A panda power forward?
They say 300 million Chinese people play basketball. Add to that at least a few Chinese pandas.In the great panda pen at the Beijing Zoo, there is a basketball. Now, I can't profess to have seen any of the pandas playing (in fact, the one nearest to the basketball was asleep), but I wouldn't put it past the Chinese considering their passion for the game. Seems like a great panda, China's most loved animal, would make a great power forward.
While seeing the pandas at the zoo, I did run into a Chinese boy wearing a Carmelo Anthony No. 15 Nuggets jersey. I found a woman who was kind enough to ask him some questions in Chinese.
I wish I had a great story about how Anthony was his favorite player and how he begged his mother to get him a jersey. Alas, he said he'd never heard of Anthony and it was "just a shirt.''
