Avalanche: second round

It's possible the Avalanche will find out today which team it will face in the second round.

If Detroit eliminates Nashville today and San Jose does the same to Calgary, the Avalanche will play the Red Wings.

The Avalanche lost all four regular-season meetings to Detroit and definitely would be the underdog but certainly would be capable of pulling off an upset if goalie Jose Theodore plays the way he did against Minnesota.

Of course, the Red Wings also have more offensive weapons than the Wild, but the Avalanche -- especially Theodore -- will begin second-round play with plenty of confidence.
