Stastny, Wolski won't play Monday
Paul Stastny and Wojtek Wolski won't play Monday in the Avalanche's Burgundy and White Game at the Air Force Academy because of what the team is calling relatively minor injuries.
Stastny (shoulder contusion) and Wolski (foot) suffered injuries in Saturday's training camp sessions.
Coach Tony Granato on Sunday said Stastny's condition had improved, and that he would skate Monday but not play in the intrasquad game. Granato said Wolski is "day to day" and that his injury is "nothing to be worried about."
Another forward, Marek Svatos, took part in Sunday's scrimmages but will be held out of Monday's game as he continues to recover from offseason knee surgery for a torn ACL.
"He's doing really well," Granato said. "We're trying to make sure his conditioning's good, but he looks good. I think he's ready to play, but his conditioning isn't up to speed. He hasn't played a game in a long time. He's been in all three (scrimmages) the past two days. He looks good. He's got good jump. You can tell he's champing at the bit and I'm sure it won't be too much longer before he's in a game."
