Stastny, Foote updates
Avalanche center Paul Stastny, who is recovering from surgery for his fractured forearm, could begin practicing with the team as early next week, but defenseman Adam Foote doesn't seem to be making much progress from his triceps injury.
That was the word from coach Tony Granato at this morning's skate in Columbus.
Granato on Stastny, who had surgery six weeks ago:
"The six to eight thing is still where we're at. He's going to hopefully be practicing with us at some time next week and then we'll go from there. He's skating now and handling the puck a bit. Next week at some point he'll get clearance to practice with us - assuming he progresses the way we hope he will.
Granato on Foote, who was injured Jan. 4:
"He's been trying hard to get back in the lineup. Hopefully in the next few days he progresses. If not, we have to figure out something else because it's been kind of a similar thing for the last couple weeks where we think he's getting close and he just can't seem to get the strength back that he needs."
