Broncos take a running back

With their first pick of fifth round the Broncos took the plunge into the running back class and selected Arizona State's Ryan Torain

Torain is one of the bigger tailbacks in the class at 6-0 3/8, 222 pounds. He rushed for 1,229 yards in '06 and fell off to 553 yards this past season when he missed six games with a Lisfranc dislocation in his left foot.

He did run at the combine -- a 4.71 40 on the electronic clock -- so some teams were a little nervous about his speed, but he dropped that to the 4.5s at his pro day.

A powerful runner who breaks some tackles, but also takes some punishment. After two years at Butler Community College, he did average at least five yards a carry in both of his seasons with the Sun Devils.
