Broncos grab a do-it-all guy
With their second pick in the seventh round -- 227th overall -- the Broncos selected one of the more versatile players on the board in Peyton Hillis of Arkansas.
Hillis lined up at running back, tight end, H-back and wide receiver at various times for the Razorbacks and also returned some punts. At 6-0 3/4, 240 pounds, Hillis is strong enough to run the ball as well as serve as a lead blocker.
And having run a 4.67 40 at the combine, he is fast enough to work down the field as a receiver. He has been hampered some by the movement, at least in some teams' minds because he was unable to become very proficient in just one spot.
But he averaged 5.6 yards a carry last season and also 49 passes for 537 yards as well. Special teams coaches around the league also like the way he played on kick coverage units as well.
Note to Editor: This is Not! a "Blog", it's just a draft day update.
Posted by Brian in Evans on April 27, 2008 8:53 PMHillis actually ran in the high 4.5's at the combine.

Posted by Bryan Miles on April 29, 2008 12:42 PMAt FB, I think the Broncos really have something with this guy. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear the name Peyton Hillis around Denver for many years to come. He can really play football!
