Broncos take a S

With their first of two picks in the seventh round -- 220th overall -- the Broncos selected Arizona State safety Josh Barrett. Barrett, who projects as a strong safety, is one of the bigger players on the board at the position at 6-1 3/4, 223.

Ran among the best at the combine with a 4.37 40 on the electronic clock. He fell on the board because of his injury history. Has suffered at least two shoulder dislocations in his career and had surgery to repair them each time.

Also played with a cast on his wrist this past season and missed two games because of a knee injury.

All of that did limit his production some -- he started at least eight games in just two seasons and started more than eight games in a season just once, as a junior in '06.
