When a person of limited knowledge or experience - but unlimited arrogance - takes his own advice, that’s stupidity - as defined by George W.Bush’s conduct of the war in Iraq. Were the president to have applied his “new” Surge strategy four years ago, with a couple of hundred thousand additional troops - when it had a chance of succeeding - we might be long out of Iraq.
At this stage, in order to be victorious over the insurgents - if that’s even possible - it might be necessary to bomb Iraq back to the Stone Age.
Our Commander-in-Chief missed his window of opportunity of providing security to the Iraqis when it might have been relatively easy, so there is no use killing more innocent civilians and sacrificing more of our own troops.
