Cheney impeachment
Friday, April 27 at 12:57 PM

Grant D. Cyrus of Boulder writes:

God bless the gutsy congressman Dennis Kucinich for at least filing the initial papers for the impeachment of Vice-president Dick Cheney. Of course this is going to go absolutely nowhere as Democrats, save Senator Russ Feingold, WILL NOT, feel they CAN NOT support him and his too radical ideas right now. Oh well.
At least the man will go down in history as having had the guts to register his rage at this deadly, deadly farce and the great injustices (many) he and Bush have bullied the American public and the world into for the last 5 plus years. I can’t stand bullies either.
Bravo my man, bravo.

READER COMMENTS

This might become a big issue once the primary season starts and Kucinich starts raising money from the people who support Cheneys' impeachment. I would advise all of you, if you believe that Cheney played a major role in deceiving the public and the congress into the Iraq quagmire, then it is time for you to write or call your congress person and tell them it is time for them to STAND UP.

Amen!

Kucinich got my attention with his words. While I doubt that he'll be the candidate, I won't mind giving him a few bucks so he can keep working to get this vile criminal out of office.

Unfortunately, I have to admit that getting rid of Cheney would be like cutting off the head of a chicken and then putting it's body back in the coop and still expecting it to lay eggs.

Bush probably can't even sign his own name without Bush holding his hand.

Impeachment!!! get a life. You conspiracy idiots are all the same. When someone doesn't agree with your radical agenda you should "off with his head" are all you guys going to a mosque?? Thank God we didn't elect that scam artist Al Gore. contrary to what you all think he lost, get over it and quit hating because Howard Dean requires it of all good little socialists.

Posted by Ron on April 27, 2007 04:44 PM

If you are familiar with Ron's posting history, then you will not be surprised that he is trying to change the subject from the record to Cheney to the record of Kucinich.

Now we have George Tenet's book, At the Center of the Storm, in which Tenet castigates Cheney and confirms what most know by now, that is, that, largely because of Cheney, President Bush took this nation into war without even having a serious debate about whether it was the right and prudent thing to do. If that isn't grounds for impeachment, it surely should be.

Ron,

"Impeachment!!! get a life. You conspiracy idiots are all the same. When someone doesn't agree with your radical agenda you should "off with his head" are all you guys going to a mosque??"

First, you need to work on your sentence contruction.

Second, I'm sure you were as outraged when they were impeaching Clinton for lying about a blowjob.

Posted by Charles B on April 27, 2007 11:58 PM

Lay off Cheney. It is not like he got a BJ in the Whitehouse, undertook the grave crime of misusing the official White House Christmas card list, had some sleep overs in the Lincoln room, or did a landdeal in Whitewater that a three year investigation and 40 million dollars found out that no laws were broken. No Cheney merely abused his power of the office, led this country into an illegal and terrible war, and is fighting tooth and nail to suspend our Constitutional rights. Oh and nothing he said about Iraq has turned out to be true, much like Clinton's fib about oral sex, which Republicans seem to hate more than anything else.

Posted by Sean on April 28, 2007 02:48 AM

Sean is right - and he forgot to add a no-bid contract for Halliburton (Cheney was formerly their CEO - no conflict of interest there) - and Halliburton has overcharged the US taxpayer according to the GAO to the tune of millions (approaching a billion) dollars. Last I heard, war profiteering could be considered treason, and anybody who thinks that Cheney won't be rewarded by Halliburton probably still believes in the Tooth Fairy. And don't forget that Halliburton just moved HQ to Dubai, UAE - which Bush & Cheney tried to give a contract for US port security to - definitely to avoid paying US taxes, possibly to avoid prosecution for war-profiteering. Interesting how in this country greed & violence are seen as good, but consensual sex which only cost the US public money when the president was being investigated is an impeachable offense.

Every since Clinton was impeached the dums and liberals just can't get over it. They bring up Impeachment to any republican at the drop of a hat. Probably because they know even though the dems now control the house/senate the dems won't accomplish anything positve for this country. Every thing the dems do has to do with politics. Nothing to help or protect this country.

Get a grip KJ and stop apologizing for this current train wreck of an administration. Bush is the worst president ever, you know it, admit it and impeach him.

I love Kucinichs impeachment articles. They shed so much new light on the high crimes and misdemeanors commited by Cheney:

Article 1: Cheney with Bush lied about blah blah blah

Article 2: Cheney with Bush lied about blah blah blah

Article 3: Cheney with Bush lied about blah blah blah

Now if 1% Kucinich can just figure out how to get this led balloon to fly his presidential campaign ratings might be revivable. But probably not.

Posted by KW on April 28, 2007 09:27 AM

KW,

Last night, Jay Leno said that Kucinich was up to 3% - along with an estimate as to how long it would take him to get within striking distance of a viable candidacy.

Of course, earlier in the week he mentioned that the customary "margin of error" was itself 3% in the poll he was citing - at the time he was citing a 1% figure also - so . . . ?

Ooops! Sorry! "Information from a TV program" - and a comedy monologue at that.

JC you should see the Bill Moyers analysis of the media assisting the war drums in 2002 and 2003.

All the televisions repeated without verifying the Cheney run Iraq Study Group's claims. Saddam has bioweapons, has aluminum tubes for centrifuges, he smoking gun is a mushroom cloud, ad nauseum. Every one of these claims were known to be false, if that is not lying then what is? The Nigerian yellowcake was proven fraudulent by the CIA, but Tenent was thrown under the bus.

I suggest you take your own advice and get informed, or shut your pie hole.

Bill Moyers should not be considered credible due, among other things, to his belief that the overwhelmingly liberal main stream media gave Bush a pass.

The MSM have never given Bush a pass on anything.

Moyers next slanted "work" will no doubt be on the secret Bush plan of blowing up the Trade Centers on 911 or the evil weather machine Bush fired up to kill black people in New Orleans, or maybe how he is personally responsible for every single case of human suffering since the beginning of time.

This moron has been spewing his "progressive" nonsense, ON THE TAXPAYERS DIME ,for WAY too long.

Now I know why guys like Truth have been parrotting this crap-

It is the latest and greatest lefty attempt at marginalizing the MSM's liberal influence.

The MSM's stranglehold on public opinion is thankfully slowly loosening with the instantaneous fact checking ability of the Internet and its always vigilant watchdogs.

We are watching you and your lies.

Get used to it.

Posted by GET REAL on April 28, 2007 10:06 PM

Get Real,

It's notable that you don't actually dispute anything appearing in the Moyers special.

Somehow I doubt you've even seen it, despite your condemnation.

I wouldn't expect anything less from you though, and don't see how you could possibly provide it.

Posted by Charles B on April 28, 2007 10:18 PM

Charles-

I did indeed watch the whole thing, painfull as it was.

I would not have commented on it otherwise.

Moyers whole premise is absurd and he proved nothing in his contrived piece.

Re-read my post ,this goes much further than "the media was duped".

Posted by GET REAL on April 28, 2007 10:51 PM

Get Real, you really need to give the Kool-Aid a break. Your FOX news talking points do not address the failure of the MSM to verify the Cheney ISG claims. Moyers highlighted two Knight Ridder reporters that actually DID THEIR JOB, and what was their job? To get out, call their contacts and see if the Bush regime was lying.

The rest of the mass Media parroted the State Department. If that is not giving the president a pass, then please tell me why Judith Miller from that bastion of liberal evil propaganda(New York Times) appointed herself head cheerleader to the Iraq invasion.

Posted by holyreality on April 29, 2007 10:18 AM

Old Grouch- How the hell can you compare the supposed "admin propaganda" you list with wacked out 911 theories?

Yes there WERE probably wmd's in Iraq and they WERE probably moved into Syria.

We WERE treated as liberators initially but after anyone openly supporting the U.S. started getting blown up that stopped.

"mission accomplished" I cant believe you guys still throw out this one.It has been debunked over and over but that doesn't matter -just keep saying it . Bush was referring to the naval vessel he was on and its mens mission which WAS accomplished.

So you are comparing that to the idea that THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA purposely murdered 3000 of his own citizens?

I thought you knew better-

You're slippin in your twilight years.

Somewhere, in the not so distant past, a kinder, gentler, more thoughtful period of our history, Dennis Kucinich would have been tried and hung as a traitor.

Posted by Zee on April 29, 2007 10:52 AM

Mr. Real,

Insofar as any comparison be there, it is simply a matter of fantasy being fantasy, whatever the tale may be. Some stories are entertaining; some are interesting take offs on various current events; and some are far out, beyond much apprecieation whatsoever.

Some have all the technical, and special effects, glamour of the "pre-quells" to the Star Wars series; while some are from the likes of "The Twilight Zone". Some portray ordinary schmucks in the course of events, while some portray Grand Panjandrums of all stripes and positions.

Which one, or how many, of any or all, appeals to the individual is a matter of personal taste. I just don't happen to care much for the kind that are poorly plotted, even more poorly presented, and closer to ridiculous than to even mild fun.

Just a short illustration: The WTC "plot" covered several feet of scroll down on this site a short while back. It was all full of "scientific proof" that things couldn't haapen the way the world saw them happen, mostly "because they never happened that way before". Somewhere in among all this was word to the effect that "jet fuel, and the shock of the crashes, could not pulverize concrete" (Idea compressed, but lots of "evidence" cited.)

I happen to have Comcast as my Internet provider. One of their latest news stories deals with the way in which a 'firey crash causes collapse of . . . freeway"; which, of course, couldn't happen if the WTC theory holds.

But, never mind little details. Someone will come up with a rebuttal to the reality of the freeway collapse - and a whole lot of guff about it as well - if they don't just add it on to the current fantasy as one more part of the . . . Bush, or whoever/whatever, "plot."

Enjoy them as you will. I just don't feel it necessary to consider any of them as matters of debate, that's all.

Dr, Zee: "Dennis Kucinich would have been tried and hung as a traitor."

Poor Dr. Zee, she just can't stand the fact that she was born after the Bill of Rights was in place. She just never had a chance to enjoy the good old days.

Give up. You've been bested by the Dr.

Posted by tj on April 29, 2007 09:29 PM

One of the main talking points from conservatives is how the dem legislators have "flip flopped" on their stance on the war. And I believe there is validity to those statements.

Therefore, it was a pleasure to hear Kucinich tell his fellow candidates at the debate that for those who were saying if they knew then what they know now, they would have voted it against it....well, they had the same information then that he did.

You may hate Kucinich, and you may support the war in Iraq, but if you can't give him some points for voting against the war despite an unfavorable political climate for such a decision several years ago, well...your mind is just truly closed to any reasoned discussion about the man.
