Ed Dean of Windsor writes:

If the global warming “doomies” aren’t any better than the Denver area forecasters, then I don’t think we have a damn thing to worry about.

Ed,

Calling Scientists "doomies" doesn't make the science any less valid.

How about disputing some facts, then you can astound us with your wit and not come off as ignorant.

Poor Ed failed to take his umbrella with him and needs someone to blame because his clothes got wet.

Once again Charles B goes straight for the jugular.

Ed, the doomies are a whole lot less good at what they're doing than the weather forecasters because the doomies insist on seeing mankind as the bad guys of the global warming problem. Weather forecasters on the other hand do what they do for the betterment of mankind.

But looking at Algore still worries me. (my own way of going for the jugular.....knifes in your court)

Chas,

The "doomies" are trying to save humankind from the consequences of global warming. It's hard to reconcile that with "seeing mankind as the badguys".

If we're bad, why save us?

Chas thinks the way to better mankind is to look at the weather rather than to figure out what mankind can to do to improve. It's not our fault, it's the weather's fault. Yeah, sure, Chas. Anything to make you feel better about yourself.

Charles B - How can we debate global warming facts when there aren't any? It's all opinion, theory and most of all, hype.

Besides, the members at the First Church of Global Warming already decided there wasn't room for debate and declared mission accomplished, didn't they?

Truth,
I'm just saying that the major problems connected with global warming are planet caused. Mankind does their share but it is minimal compared with the natural planetary occurances.

I feel fine about myself, I just think it's a shame that there is this group of people, with Al Gore as poster child, that want to be in control of some movement. They see that polution is a problem so they have created a cottage industry around attacking anyone that leaves a larger "carbon footprint" than what they deem appropriate. Al's, of course, is a size 10,000 EEE but he's a giant among men so it's O.K. for him to go tromping around and squish the rest of us to get his point across.

Charles B.
What I mean is that the "doomies" perceive mankind as the "worst" and "intentional" offenders when it comes to the causes of global warming. We are contributors, but to a much less degree than the natural planetary effects.

Posted by Chas on April 28, 2007 06:26 PM

Chas: "so they have created a cottage industry"

A cottage industry? Most of the world acknowledges that man contributes global warming, most of the large corporations acknowledge it, most scientists acknowledge it. Somewhat more than a cottage industry. More like a worldwide industry. The people in the cottage are the people like Chas.

Truth
First read the post, then respond.
I said they "the doomies" created a cottage industry. Not the industrialists. Without industry you'd be chipping away at a stone with a hammer and chisel, not typing on a keyboard. Got gas in your car. Thank industry. Got a fridge, good, enjoy it. Don't deny that we all are dependant upon industry and oil, and energy in many forms.
