Insurance costs go still higher

We have been told for a couple of years now that auto insurance rates would stop their upward spiral if we just changed from no-fault to everybody-on- his-own.
I just paid my insurance for the coming year. It increased 12.1 percent from last year. This is with zero accidents and zero tickets.
Something is amiss here. We are constantly told that the inflation rate is about 3 percent to 4 percent. If this is true, why are so many of my big-item bills increasing at rates two to five times this number (they all blame it on "increased costs") and none are going down?
Somebody is seriously off base on their numbers.

We are paying for the illegals who don't carry insurance. They are hauled into court and charged with no drivers license & insuance, fined, and walk back out and drive away. We need a tent city jail like Sheriff Joe has in AZ. and incarcerate them for awhile and send a message. Would help if we had leaders in this state who did more than just pass laws that aren't enforced.

We've all been duped. No-fault was supposed to prevent increases in rates but just gave the insurance cos free money by lowering their risks/obligations. Insurance (health, auto etc..) has become the biggest scam known to man. They've used deragulation to play the market and ratepayers pay for their mistakes.

BTW our car insurance has come down about $14.00 on a monthly basis since the switch from no-fault.

Insurance is nothing more than a state mandated and legalized protection racket. The insurance companies raise their rates whenever they feel like it, and if the insurance commission frowns; the companies back the rate hikes down to where they originally wanted them to be . Ask for more than you want, and you'll get what you expected from the insurance commission.

Apparently 4:11 is upset that people are correctly blaming a lot of the insurance rate hikes on the illegal alien Mexicans who are uninsured. Well, 4:11...get a clue, the illegal aliens are a part of the reason for the rate hikes. I'm tired of paying for them, you should be too; unless you are an illegal alien yourself.

A little real-life anecdote on this subect: I was involved in an auto accident with an illegal alien, which was clearly his fault. I even had a witness to the accident. It was an accident- alert day so the police wouldn't respond. This illegal alien had no drivers license and no insurance, of course, but provided me with his correct name, adddress and phone #, which I gave to the Hiway Patrol and my insurance co.. Even though I had documentation that his license plates were from another vehicle (a clear violation of traffic laws) the police wouldn't or couldn't do anything to punish this person. All he had to do was dispute my (and my witnesses) claim that he was at fault and he walked away scott-free. This person's actions cost me $500 to pay my deductible and cost him nothing for an accident that was HIS FAULT!!! There is something fundamentally wrong with this situation in our society. Please tell me how illegal aliens aren't a financial burden on our LEGAL citizens.

Please tell me how illegal aliens aren't a financial burden on our LEGAL citizens. Anyone who doesn't have car insurance is a legal burden if they cause an accident. Illegal immigrants aren't the only uninsured drivers out there, you know. Can you find stats on Colorado uninsured drivers? If it turns out most of them are illegals, you might have more of a case for your position on the issue.

I agree, it's BS what happened to you, and actually, I've had something similar happen to me. But to say the insurance industry could be "fixed" if we solved the illegal immigration problem in this country is not accurate, IMO.

Anyway, if people are so againt illegal immigrants, you should boycott all businesses that employ them, and that's not going to be an easy feat. First off, you'd have to start by building your own place to live, because just about every builder in this state uses illegal immigrants for employees. You'd have to stop eating meat, because the slaughterhouses employ them in droves. And that's just two industries alone.

Quit calling them "illegal immigrants" 2-cents as they are ILLEGAL ALIENS. Immigrants go through a legal process to enter the USA or any other country for that matter.
