Among Muslims, Tancredo an old joke
Thursday, August 9 at 1:28 PM

I was just starting to yawn as I heard the news of Rep. Tom Tancredo’s regurgitation of his threat of retaliatory bombing of Mecca and Medina, and, to be honest, the news didn’t stop me from completing it.
As the Aug. 5 Rocky Mountain News headline suggests — “Tancredo’s bombing a dud with fellow Republicans” — this threat is a dud too among Muslims, too, even in his own state.
Reaction has been critical to be sure, but many of us know that Tancredo is more Republican sideshow than a serious political figure — a male version of Anne Coulter.
Not surprisingly, among Colorado Muslims, Tancredo has become the bad joke that is told once too often. I for one am glad that Tancredo’s deterrent program is prefaced with, “If I am president ... ,” a precondition that I have a better chance of meeting than he does.

yes that was a stupid remark, and in all honesty if he did become president, that wasnt going to happen anyway. If you had a lick of sense you would have understood that .

Careful, Fresh, or Taj will call CAIR on you and have an attorney threaten to sue you for exercising free speech. They're proving adept at that sort of thing.

Whoa! An American Muslim speaks! And an alleged big shot at that. Too bad, Taj, that you’re so sleepy. Otherwise, you may have prevented yourself from regurgitating the usual not-so-veiled hate-mongering your religion espouses so seamlessly. Too bad you probably view your bilious, half-hearted slam at Tancredo courageous, and that a lame politically-correct editor felt he had no choice but to publish it, because usually American Muslims have precious little to contribute to intelligent political debate these days, other than tantrums and threats. Too bad the only time anyone ever gets a rise, albeit an inappropriate one, out of an American Muslim, is when that anyone mentions defending themselves against hateful, murderous attacks from Muslims. Too bad you and your ilk have been hiding in your basements since well before 9-11, unwilling to be Americans as well as Muslims. Too bad you choose to jab at a man who is working to keep even you and your family alive along with everyone else, despite your unwillingness, as a “director,” to contribute much of anything positive to your country of choice, in spite the riches it provides you. Too bad no one cares, especially Tancredo, and most especially Coulter, that you, an American Muslim “leader,” occasionally awake from your restless slumber (no wonder you’re yawning) to take that jab at him. Too bad you got that last part of your screed wrong: I have a better chance, when I’m 190 and deaf, dumb and blind, of becoming President of the United States than every single descendant you and your loved ones will ever have, until the end of time.

So Taj, we are still waiting for you to call a national news conference to protest Jihad in all aspects by all who espouse it. We want to hear you encourage all Muslims to abandon Jihad as an outdated method of displaying hatred and intolerance for others. We want to hear you say in both English and Arabic that Muslim terrorists should be imprisoned for their actions. We want to hear you say that you support the American way of life and despise Jihad. We want to hear you say that Muslims should love Christians and Jews as they love other Muslims. If you can do that, you get credit, if not, you are just another terrorist wanting to destroy our nation.

verse, you make a lot of childish assumptions about someone you know nothing about and wouldn't recognize if they were standing next to you. You're a good reminder of how ugly paranoia and prejudice can be.

While I don't expect you to agree with anything I stated, I would not degenerate into ad hominen attacks- Your's is a good reminder of how ugly paranoia and prejudice can be.

RP McMurphy, CA, verse, Fresh. Boy, there are a lot of sick people out there. Maybe that explains it since Tancredo is one of them. Get this guy, Fresh; even though he recognizes that Tancredo was once again being stupid, he seems to think that it is OK to make such a stupid remark if you really didn't mean it. Fresh is obviously not an advanced student of diplomacy, nor a neophyte student of it. Since Tancredo is clearly a loose cannon, who can say what he would do if president? Fortunately, that is in the realm of fiction. And McMurphy; he convicts Taj of being a terrorist unless Taj does his bidding. And he probably thinks he is a good American. But verse is obviously the basket case of the bunch. He is a prime example of what is wrong about Tancredo.

Muslims that are living in the U.S. are know slowly beginning to change our country into what their religious beliefs are.

Three examples:
Muslim cab drivers denying service to people if they have a bottle of wine with them.

Muslim students at a public university paid for with tax payers money demanding footbaths and times to pray even though it interupts classes.Footbaths are to be installed with tax payer money.

Muslims that work at a meat packing plant are now sueing Swift because they want to stop the assembly line at sundown to pray.

While the ACLU sues cities and states all over the country for having displays of Jesus in the manger around Christmas, they are helping the Muslims with their demands that we Americans who can't even have a display at Christmas , get their religious doctrines in the workplace and on public taxpayer universities.

The Muslims in American have never spoken up and condemned the violence against the U.S. and other countries in the name of their religion.

Now however they are starting to change our laws to fit their evil religion. They got a lot of nerve demanding religious freedoms outside of their Mosques.

I find this outrageous and just another attack on the U. S.

Ever so slowly the Muslims are going to use our freedoms and rights to try to turn us into a Muslim nation.

I think they have watched the illegals run this country into the ground and divide our nation.

Now we have another group who are going to use our Constitution against us and try to divide and conquer.

This is only the beginning.

I think the U.S State Department needs to put a complete hold on all visas for people who are Muslims. They are our next inner threat.

Taj,
Look who’s talkin’….again..and again..and again. And still you say nothing worthwhile. Anyway, it appears that from your ivory tower you refuse to acknowledge that Muslims are currently the experts on ugly paranoia and prejudice. And how dare anyone disagree with them. Ever hear of the term "backlash"? You seem to have an awful lot of time on your hands, much of it spent on yawning. Why not google it? Keep in mind that it applies to everyone. Meantime, if I were you, I would strongly resist writing nasty notes to the newspaper about people you do not know and of whom you know nothing. Oh, and by the way, I join RP McMurphy and about a trillion other people still waiting for that news conference. You know the world is waiting. Could it be that all that press Muslim leaders have treated us to is based on lies?

AMEN, "Can I get an AMEN!." GOD BLESS YOU.
And you, too, RP.

Taj-

You need to get your priorities straight.

Where is your outrage against Radical Islam and the targeting of innocent civilians around the world?

Tancredo's suggestion was a hypothetical response to a Jihad nuclear attack on U.S. cities.

Why should we not explore all possible options to decrease the likelihood of a domestic nuclear strike?

Maybe you and your fellow "mainstream" Muslims should be more vociferous and demand your own religion purges the radicals . See, THEY are the problem, not Tancredo.

But instead, you are silent about that and rail on Tancredo.

Let me know when you and CAIR organize the MILLION MAN MODERATE MUSLIM MARCH against radical Islam.

You have had SIX YEARS to speak out and have said nothing.

Your silence is deafening.

"Moderate" Muslim silence is jihad compliance.

RP...thanks for the suggestion, however, I've already made these type statements publicly...if you are still waiting then I might suggest you, like many others who ask/make the same suggestions, are not tuned in. This is not surprising - unless there is sensationalism attached, there usually is no attention being paid...

Posted by Taj on August 10, 2007 03:35 PM

All: I apologize for the multiposting earlier, the site was a little on the fritz. Get Real, fyi, Tancredo is not a "priority". It took all of 10 minutes to write my op. Nor do i support terrorism or violent extremism, points I and many Muslims nationally have made publicly before...thus, any "silence" is an auditory problem on your part ;-)

Posted by Taj on August 10, 2007 03:56 PM

Apology accepted. Just one more thing: Please provide links to, as you say, those type statements and points you and many Muslims have made before. We would love to know where to, as you say, tune in. Surely you've saved all the press releases pertaining to those statements, and they are readily available to you. We would all love to see them...before another 6 years have passed, of course. You understand.

Attn: " Truth" : What are you on?

Taj,
I have been insulting you for two days. For some reason, I felt threatened by your letter, and for that I take full responsibility. Finally, I found out from a very reliable source, from whom I sought advice, that you are a peaceful man. Please accept my apology.
Just because I may not agree with everything you may say doesn't mean I feel that you're automatically the bad guy.

Now however they are starting to change our laws to fit their evil religion.

And we know how evangelical "Christians" hate the competition.

Well Taj, are you going to respond to Verse' s question?? Post 4:17

Where are the links??

Your silence is deafning!!! As usual!!!

Perhaps you all might go out and pick up a copy of this week's "Westword" - perhaps the only newspaper left in town.

Kenny Be, their principal cartoonist, has done a wonderful page on the subject of Tom Tancredo. It will surely outrage his faithful disciples, and be a wonderful source of good belly laughs for those who don't happen to regard him as some kind of new "incarnation" of either wisdom or leadership.

I recommend it highly to both sides.

if you search the archives of the Post and RMN, you can find various articles/op-eds I've written over the years. If you search Gunny Bob Newman's page, you'll a webcast of my show from 6/21 where i plainly stated that terrorists were "idiots"...at isna.net you can find the fatwa issued by the north american fiqh council, of which i am a a member, denouncing terrorism and extremism (or simply google "fatwa against terrorism")
