CO health care plans
Colorado Health Care Plans are Sickening According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 45 million are uninsured. Of those, 37% earn $50,000 a year, 19% make more than $75,000 a year, 20% are not citizens and 33% do not enroll in government health care programs which they are eligible for. Many of those people not insured are insured in less than a year. Colorado is reported to have 770,000 people without health insurance. I would guess Colorado’s census figures are proportional to the U.S. census figures. So, why would Coloradans want to pay to have all 770,000 uninsured, insured? The Colorado Blue Ribbon Commission on Health Care Reform thinks we should.

Will we are paying for them now. When they get sick or hurt and need medical care who do you think is paying those bills?

Posted by KW on September 12, 2007 12:16 PMI dream of a reform plan where the poor are given a voucher card to pay for medical expenses with a sliding scale of co-payments. Anyone can get such a card but those with certain levels of income will pay 75 -99% of the costs. Have the state allow the deduction of all health expenses including insurance and co-pays without any minimum qualifying "floor".
The ideal situation would be to give each person an "account" to pay those small payments. This would be for the working poor. They could contribute to that account with pre-tax money if they want to do so and the state will match the contributions up to a set level. That is the second phase and cost evaluations need to be made. As previously stated I'd extend the hours of neighborhood clinics and open more of them. I'd also make pre-natal and preventive care treatments a one dollar co-pay service. Others can add to this but this is a basic frame for a plan. Somewhere we need to see if there is a way to offer an inexpensive insurance policy to cover catastrophic circumstances.
There are a lot of holes in this plan so perhaps some of you can add to this? Thanks.
