He thought he was mainstream. That is what most of the Liberals think that they are mainstream. The 'drive by media' of ABC, NBC, CBS just don't get it. You bleeding hearts are not mainstream. We have to understand that young people are easily driven by fads and the cause of the day type thinking. Black, white, brown kids all get different views on things from the parents and peers and don't have the tools needed to know what is truth and what is propaganda as yet. However, when adults spew out the garbage of bias or prejudice, no matter what color they are or what culture they come from, they are exhibting the very thing they say they are against. The past is the past and no amount of ranting and raving or lets get back at those who did us wrong will change it. If you want to fix a problem you don't create another one in the process else you will get caught up in a vicious cycle of Fear and hatred that ultimately will only result in consuming every thing that makes you human.

The media establishment in this country is controlled by a handful of multinational corporations.One would have to question just how liberal that establishment is other than in the minds of the radical wingnuts for whom such an assertion is a convenient dodge and means to try to avoid accountability.
The Jena 6 issue raises several in my mind. While the nooses were hateful bigoted speech, it was free speech. (what was said prior beneath the tree?). The 6 jumping the one was not only cowardly, but a hate crime. Most interacial crime is black on white. Why did the so-called black leaders protest Jena 6 and not the murder of college students by an illegal alien? Because it involved white people. Black racism is alive and well, encouraged by the race pimps. Jesse and Al, Martin is rolling over in his grave. God rest his soul.

The black students were clearly trying to set up white students and start a problem so then the blacks could claim the race card.
If white students had written " White Power" on the gym floor .You would have seen such an uproar and Al Sharton and Jesse Jackson would be here protesting.
The school system did nothing to the black students and called it a "prank"They downplayed the whole incident.
Does anyone really think had it been white students who wrote that , their behavior would be explained away as a "prank"?
If there is any discrimination against any one group or racism,it's against whites.

"White Power" is a call to continued socio-political dominance, whereas "Black Power" is perceived as a call for equity.
I tend to agree with the letter writer on this one. Without context, both phrases are fairly meaningless.
The phrase "black power" is a crude derivation of the Godfather of Soul's legendary racial pride slogan "I'm black and I'm proud", which is a much more useful phrase than "black power" I think, and certainly was meaningful in the era that it had it's beginning.

Besides the grinding irrelevancy of this statement, it doesn’t even make factual sense.
I have a challenge for Mr.American, list out all the media companies and who owns them and the political agenda of the owner.
Then let’s chat.
Bango - The "owners" don't make the decisions regarding what stories are run and how they are portrayed.
That's the job of the upper mgmt, editors, etc...
The conglomerates that own these companies are not involved in the day to day operations.
Now, shall we look at the political agendas of these people who actual make the headline decisions?

I see little cutie Katie Curic is doing a special report at 5:30 PM on how the police are out gunned by gang bangers and other crimminals with of all things "Assault" rifles and Uzi style guns. Wasn't this same story done by some other media liberal superstar on CBS like Dan "I'll Sue" Rather than accept resposibility for my own actions, in the 1990's around the time the Brady Bill was trying to be passed.
During elections this type of sensationalism is very popular with the media liberals on all three of the national networks.
60 lies a Minute loves to do these one sided pieces to coincide with the passing of anti-gun legislation or general elections. The media and it's New York city based top anchor men and women are so sympathetic to the left and it's other causes and the passion on their biased faces is so serious it is almost comical and disgusting at the same time.
Yes the media does have a liberal bent and they play the part of the most caring people in all of America.

I never said it wasn't ethnocentrism, but was instead commenting on how the perception of the similar phrases is different depending on the racial make-up of the source.
That was what the letter was about right?

There was an interview with a long-time Washington Post editor last year. He's a liberal who admitted 90% of his co-workers shared his views.
But, you don't need to research surveys to know the truth. Just read AP and Reuters They constantly insert little jabs and subtle attacks on Mr. Bush, Republicans, and conservatives. Martin Crutsinger, an AP Economic Reporter, is very guilty of this practice.
Does anyone here ever watch the Sunday morning political talk shows? Next time you do, count how many conservatives are at the table. There's almost always one token conservative among a panel of three or four liberals. Even a supposedly politically incorrect talk show like Bill Mahr's Real Time on HBO has only one conservative among his guests amid a obnoxious liberal audience.
Also, notice how many liberal talk show hosts and frequent guests there are: Tim Russert, Democrat; George Stephanopolous, Democrat; Bill Mahr, extreme liberal, Cokie Roberts, Democrat; Sam Donaldson, Democrat; Fariq Zakaree, Democrat; Bob Schieffer, Democrat; Chris Matthews, Democrat; C. Amanpour, liberal; Keith Olbermahn, Democrat. Yes, they throw us a bone with George Will and Tucker Carlson. Thanks.
What do the conservatives have on TV? Fox News. Wow. Hannity & Colmes features one conservative and one liberal. Bill O'Reilly is a conservative who debates liberals on his show. In other words, you'll find the same amount of conservatives on a Fox talk show as you would on one of the liberal talk shows. Fox News doesn't feel the need to load up conservative against a lone liberal.
