Tired of campaign
Monday, September 10 at 12:01 AM

I am bored by the 2008 presidential election, and it is only September 2007! There should be a constitutional amendment that limits the campaign for any election to six months.
I am tired of hearing about the “uninsured” from politicians raking in millions for their campaigns. I am tired of hearing how they will do everything better.
I have listened to all the promises since Truman; I would like to see some positive action!

Six months is not enough time to learn about a candidate. However you ar so correct in mentioning the political burnout that is happeneing.

In a one year campaign you can break it down to three month intervals. This by the local, state , and federal caucases. This sort of prevents a political burnout.

However for these clowns to begin campaigning two even three years (Clinton) in advance is folly. By the time the elections come around it may be one of the smallest voter turnouts ever.

hey the dumocrates running have nothing else to do with their time than to tell us how they will do it better. they sure wouldnt want to be in DC at work showing how things get done to make them better. I am just waiting for them to bring up their best 'fix for social security' and yes the insurance for the children.

It's apparent the letter writer is referring to the boring, repeat nothing but Republican talking points candidates.

Two-year campaigns by people that ought to be in Washington or their state capitols running the government and solving problems so they can actually have a platform to stand on in an election year instead of endless repetitive soundbites...politics has been devalued to almost nil...

Not only are the campaign rhetorics and theatrics diminishing politics, the actual performance of elected officials, from both sides of the aisle have been deteriorating steadily the last 40 or so years.

I'm not saying that at all. You all are bashing Democrats for campaigning already yet Republicans are doing the exact same thing.

Hypocrites as usual.

I just by-pass most of the news concerning the election. The candidates(All parties) for 2008 are jokes! I will vote for the candidate who has the least amount of money and has no chance of becoming president.

As you witness the corruption, dishonesty, and, blatant disregard for the future of the American people by our so-called leaders in our states and Washington D.C., you should notice that your vote makes no difference anyway!!!

Same ole, nest feathering, greedy, worthless, politicians year after year!!!

As I came back on line, I read, in the Comcast news section, that the Idaho Senator, Craig, is now going to try to get his guilty plea overturned. Seems the argument will be that the State has a clause that says a guilty plea may be withdrawn if it was not "intelligently given".

Which presumes some "intelligence" to begin with , I would guess.

Anyway, seems as if the Senator is aruging that his plea was not "intelligent", as he was under a lot of pressure. The pressure came from his local newspaper investigating him concerning rumors and allegations concerning his sexual proclivities; and this investigation was, in the Seantor's words, "a witch hunt".

God old Republican position: We can investigate you - even without warrant, or any substantial indication of wrong-doing - any time, in any way we choose. And, if you have done nothing wrong, you really have nothing to complain about.

BUT, don't you dare investigate US - even when there are allegations of wrong-doing. That's a witch-hunt.

I'm reminded of the Church Lady, on the old Saturday Night Live, and her little smiling question: "Isn't that special?"

Well, it's typical Republican anyway.

Now the Dems are going to have a debate in Spanish. They sure are trying hard to give this country away. In my opnion if you can't understand English you shouldn't be voting. When are we going to put a stop to this country being turned over to the Latinos?

You are all missing the point. A campaign cycle is now 1 year to rehash the previous election, 1 year to speculate, and 2 years of campaigning. If the media didn't have politics to report on, they would have to report on government, which is far more complicated and requires more work.

You are too generous with your time. Election campaigns should be limited to sixty days.
