Unlikely Stein will ever give Bush credit
Monday, September 17 at 12:01 AM

Regarding Ed Stein’s cartoon of Sept. 8, in which a visitor to a graveyard of soldiers killed in Iraq wonders about how difficult it is to focus on 9/11 as the anniversary approaches:
The obvious implication is that since the total number of deaths of our troops in Iraq now exceeds the number killed on 9/11, that many people now have difficulty remembering the emotion associated with the anniversary. He could be right about that, but maybe it’s hard for people to remember because we haven’t had another major terrorist attack in this country.
I won’t hold my breath waiting for Stein to give any credit to the Bush administration. Also, I’m not buying that Stein cares one whit for the people in the military. I’ve seen nothing but snide, mean-spirited and derisive portrayals from him, week after week, year after year.

My son, when BushCo does something commendable then I'm confident they will receive credit due. After 7-years of soaring national debt, high oil prices, decline in global prestige, mounting inflation and war, each spawned in the wake of ineptness, corruption, dishonesty and spin, the political cartoonist are obvioulsly hard-pressed to find something happy to draw about.

Bob when the man that was behind the the 9/11 attack is brought to justice Bush will get credit. The man had the whole country and the world behind him when we went into afganistan to get Bin Laden but when he left to go fight Iraq he lost that support. Credit has to be earned.

I think Stein gives Bush, and his Administration, all the credit he, and they, really deserve.

On the flip side, I wonder if the letter writer has been able to see all the mistakes Bush and Co have made. He whines that Stein doesn't give Bush credit but doesn't point out anything that deserves credit.

Hey Bob,

9/11 was SIX years ago now.

Where is Osama bin Laden?

Why has he not been brought to justice for the murders of more than three thousand people?

Stein was simply pointing out that it is becoming a little hard to focus on remembering the victims of 9/11 when the mastermind of their murders is still free and more than 3,000 american soliders have now given their lives in a war that not only hasn't made us safer than we were six years ago...it has made our country reviled by people throughout the world...and therefore less safe than ever.

There...that's the credit Bush deserves.

Happy now?

Ed Stein is your typical left winger that only sees what he wants to see and because he is biased, so his opinions are irrelevant as a true objective political cartoonist.

The left will not be happy until there is another terrorist attack during Bush's watch.
How convienently the previous posts here forgot about the Immoral, inept, corrupution, dishonestly of the Clinton White house. Typical hypocrisy and willful blind hate.

Blinded,

Are you, somehow, trying to indicate that, "In the kingdom of the blind the one-eyed man is king"? With Bush as having at least the "one eye"; that of a Right wingnut?

He does act at times as if he were "King George" - even though he hasn't gone out to throw himself on the floor and chew any rugs, yet; as the 3rd of that name (and the last to reign over the then Colonies) was famous for in history when his mental malady surfaced and took over - we will all have to admit that. And indeed "uneasy is the (his) head who (would wear) the crown".

But, take heart! The lame duck years are passing swiftly. And, as with all good
Americans and Democrats, "We'll make things straight in 2008!"

Hey Jesus you are an idiot with all the facts in your liberal mind messed up.. Get a job!

Sounds like you are living in a fairy tale world and are out of touch with reality in your analogies. Your must be going into your second childhood or never came out of your first one. You fancy your imagined writing skills as clever but are some of the silliest scribbling a simple mind can achieve and shows your arrested development.

For your information the Democracts and liberals are pseudo Americans working to tear this country down into an immoral, socialist cesspool your kind thrive in.

P.S
Hate to dash down your 08 fantasy , but it will be Rudy Guliani in the White house you old coot.

Posted by Blinded in the Left Eye on September 17, 2007 12:41 PM

Blinded, oh yes Rudy, that wonderful, moral man who will pluck us up out of this cesspool.

Providing he doesn`t dump his currant wife, while he is in the White House, calling a press conference to do it.

That was how he acted as Governor, why change?

I think Blinded put it very well concerning you.
Please stop embarrassing yourself. Give it a rest.
It's a moot point from here on. Stop being a glutton for punishment.

Sharon B.(Bolshevik)

I never said Guliani was a moral person. As a matter of fact he really belongs in the Democratic party. I was just stating a very viable outcome. Obama and Hillary have about a snowwballs chance in hell to ever be elected. So you better start your crying now and get it out of your system before Nov. 08.

Hey OG you put it as All Good Americans and Democrats. Much as I dislike the liberal Democrats, I would not say they are all separate from the "Good" Americans.
I wish Stein would get on the editors phone and find out why we only get the link to his cartoons once in a while.

As a conservative I did not object to the invasion of Iraq as I thought this administration would treat it as a war not a garden party. Even the surge is too little, too late. Either fight a war or send in the diplomats and prepare to be defeated without a fight. Best way is to fight to win, win then go to diplomacy. Not done here so we can't defend Bush's actions. I never will support turning tail. Fighting or even attempting to fight a war according to Robert's Rules of Order is to try to turn tail and keep it hidden. No matter who is responsible for that decision, the President has the authority to order his Generals to fight as soldiers not DAR nominees. He is responsible and if we do not win it will be his fault.

I am so proud all of you far left extreme socialist liberal dumocrats can only think that Bush has not captured osama. I guess you just happened to forget that ole billie c and his girl maddie are the ones who were going to be tough on terrorism after each attach by osama and his group.

momma y,

I hope you are well today. I really intended to include anyone, and everyone, fed up with Bush and this Iraq quagmire. It is only the "Blinded" and "Suggestion", etc., kind that separate.

Seems as if they've sprung up - or crawled out from under a rock, or out of the woodwork - to either replace, or supplement, the two most simplistic Bushites we're all familiar with, the poster who used to cover the page with repeats, and the one who goes to bed with his AK47.

Ah! Well! More fun on the forum.

It is going to be a difficult time - and sadly, a very long haul - before we even come to the end of the lame duck period. But, we've survived worse. I sincerely hope, momma y, we are both still around when things change.

OG - Teach me this new math.

Bush took office in Jan 01 and it's now Sept 07.

How does that add up to "8 years?" Can I use this new math with my checking account as well?

Posted by KW on September 17, 2007 04:04 PM

KW

You can try using it for banking but first you have to be elected. Bankers know that those guys can't subtract..only add. Doesn't matter which party either. Very few of them would survive a year in the real business world.

OG
Am here. Had 112 people here yesterday. No leftovers to speak of either. Sent them home with everyone in disposable pans. Have six feet of smoker and grill racks soaking in black plastic bags with ammonia. Will rinse them tomorrow. No one followed Nick and company down the highway either. Everyone had a fun time. Seven of the women brought cakes. Five others bought pies. We also had some fresh strawberries from the garden and peaches for the sugar watchers in the bunch. Some were listening to the Bronco game and the rest of us were sitting down and filling up the dehydrator racks with herbs. Today I'll pay the neighbor kids to pick the green apples on my trees so I can freeze them, applesauce and apple butter them and dry them. I'll find a way to share some apple butter. No added sweeteners of any kind.

BTW. I am thinking of filing suit against the Broncos. I have a badly damaged heart and their football games are too stressful. Surely there must be a statute someplace making that kind of cliffhanger illegally actionable. Read you around.

On the outrageous lib cartoonist scale,Stein is tame compared to Ted Rall or Tom Toles.

KW,

What new math?

I don't see anything in my postings about "8 years", or any other numbers - other that the slogan for winning the next election, in 2008, and a reference to an AK47. And what that has to do with Bush's term to date is . . . ?

Posted by Old Grouch on September 18, 2007 12:38 AM

Talk about new math?

New math ala Bush/Enron computation.

Sectarian killings are down,; Because only murdered people shot in the back of the head count, front of the head of body shots are not sectarian violence.

Bombing deaths are down; Because when you completely stop counting dead from car bombs, the numbers will certainly decrease.

Not a way to balance your checkbook, and it's especially obscene that we joke about it while people die every hour.

Ed Stein will give Bush credit when Bush deserves credit.

Posted by Holy Reality on September 18, 2007 10:31 AM

What did you do OG? Get them to amend your post saying Bush has been in office 8 years???

It was there yesterday.

I thought.

(sigh)

Do you think they are clever because they are good "gotcha" snipes at liberals, or are they clever for some other reason?

Oh, I though you said angels the libs won`t touch. Now I have to go back and read them again.

Blinded, not crying and not crying in `08 because anyone who runs from either party, is intelligent. And I want intelligent in the White House again.

Please someone with an i.q. higher then the octane in my gas, please.

Posted by Sharon B. on September 18, 2007 10:08 PM

Dear Blinded, sorry about your lost eye.
As you are no doubt aware by now, each eye sees both visual fields, right and left.
If you want to lose the left visual field you have to put a lesion posterior to the optic chiasm. This can be done with common tools, but isn’t recommended.

Another way to blind yourself to the left visual field is to keep digesting only rightwing dialogue whilst still actually living in the real world, and with some grit, you can do just like Jimmy Jones, and start shutting down the right cerebral cortex.
This usually occurs somewhat with age, but you can speed up that process.

You won’t go blind in the left visual field, but you won’t be able to process all that irritating novel stimulation from the world, and you will find it increasingly easier to blot out thinking about anything new or different.

In short, you will become a consummate conservative!

Hope this was helpful to you.
