Paul Campos & Mitt Romney
Thursday, October 25 at 2:00 PM

Michael Trimble of Littleton writes:

Paul Campos is taking Mitt Romney to task for suggesting that differences in faith are less important than the differences between the faithful and the faithless (Romney’s odd view of ‘faith’ 10/16/07.) Campos compares Romney’s assertion that being a “person of faith” is akin to a political candidate saying he/she is a “person of politics,” or global warming activists and skeptics agreeing that what matters most is their both being “persons of science.” The last is a particularly unfortunate example, since Al Gore, were he a “person of science,” would be constrained to acknowledge that scientists do not agree on his gospel of global warming. We could do worse than requiring actual scientific credentials from those we chose to listen to on such matters. Along those lines, let us also invite all career politicians to acknowledge their commitment to what is all too often merely the most highly evolved manifestation of the oldest profession. I would expect the public to elect people who have accomplished things in other avenues of “real life” before, and expect to do so in future, at higher rates than they would “professional politicians,” if that trait were honestly addressed.
Regarding Mitt Romney’s faith, since better than 80% of Americans still claim to hold some form of Christian belief, but since most do not know the intricacies of their doctrines and traditions, surely it is sensible of Romney to assert he is a “person of faith,” and leave alone arguments most would find arcane. Very nearly all candidates do express “faith.” What is clear from Romney’s life is that he takes his faith seriously; that is to say, he is “faithful” to the beliefs he espouses. THAT sets him further apart from many other candidates than does the tradition from which his faith originates, and that is a trait worthy of the voter’s consideration.

Romney needs to remember that he is bound by the Constitution to protect and serve even those who are "faithless". A lot of people put their "faith" in the current president and look what that got us.

yep stan and just think of what faith obama would choose and not his newly found one to make people think he is part of the Christian faith.
but then again stan it looks like all of the progressives want a god less country for the few who have no faith.

Shorter version:

Romney is completely irrational- so you should consider voting for him.

Mikey, Mikey. Are you King Trimble's son? The real Mitt Romney who has a continuing history of pimping and exploiting black men. When NAM broke-out, Mitt broke for his Mormon mission in France (sipping vino and eating cheese). Muhammad Ali sought a Mitt religious draft deferment and he was rewarded with the threat of a 5 year federal prison sentence for draft-EVASION. Ali's religious advisor, Elijah Muhammad wasn't so lucky. Elijah served 3 years in federal prison for draft-EVASION. Shortly before Mitt got his illegal NAM sanctuary gift (daddy was a Nixon cabinet member), Wallace D. Muhammad, Elijah's son, sought a Mitt religious draft deferment. Like his father, Wallace was also sentenced to 3 years in federal prison. 55% of the "soldier-draftees" killed in Vietnam (in-country) were black, while we only comprised 12% of the nation's population.

The beat goes on. The Fitzsimons redevelopment project was a cash-cow for LDS members. All of the federal funded jobs and contracts in this project were given to construction company owners who are LDS members. The leftovers were given to criminal illegal Mexicans. Sucking hind-tit were black disabled Vietnam veterans, who saw their federal employment and contracting benefits, "VAPORIZED" by LDS freak-a-zoids and criminal illegal Mexicans.
I'm going to be very angry if any of my "blood-loot", wound up in Mitt's coffers. In some circles this type of activity is called federal funds fruad, waste, abuse, and RICO violations.

I served in 3 deployments to Vietnam. During my 3rd excursion there, my younger brother (USMC machine gunner), was shot in the face during a NAM fire fight. Today he is blind, PTSD, Agent Orange infected, diabetic, and his legs need amputating. Mike, Paul Rever may have rode through your "hood", however, he didn't ride through mine, telling black folks, only one son had to serve in combat. Mike, I hope you aren't borrowing a page from Sharpton's book. He wound up on knees in SLC, UT. I'm playing the "R" card, reality, Mitt owes black folks 3 years in fedral prison and some of his ill-gotten "Benjamins".

...since better than 80% of Americans still claim to hold some form of Christian belief, but since most do not know the intricacies of their doctrines and traditions...sensible...to...leave alone arguments most would find arcane.

This is precisely the problem.

If more American Christians took the time to reflect upon and understand these "arcane" doctrines and traditions they would have recognized by 2004 that the purported 'Christian' President Bush had more in common with the Father of Lies than the Prince of Peace.

How "arcane" is Jesus's message of love, forgiveness, salvation, compassion, humility and honesty?

So that America doesn't get fooled again and our individual religious values corrupted, voters of faith or no-faith, must scrutinize the alleged values that politicians try to pawn off on us under the guise of a buzzword 'faith.'

Scientist don't agree about Global Warming the same way they don't agree about Evolution. There are a few unqualified nutjobs who question Evolution just like there are a few unqualified nutjobs who question Global Warming.

See also the 'historians' who disagree on the Holocaust.

The 'teaching the debate' tactic of artificially leveling the playing field between legitimate and dubious scholarship to advance a political agenda pioneered by the Bush admin to dilute high school biology curriculum, and now muddy the global warming debate is also alive and well in Iran.

Last year Iran held a conference to "examine whether the Holocaust actually happened" featuring several Western "academics" who by incredible coincidence also happen to be Holocaust deniers. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/6167695.stm

If our goal was to help the Middle East adopt American-style values, we seem to be succeeding.

Mormonism is a cult plain and simple. You really want someone like a David Koresh in the White House?

Posted by on October 26, 2007 11:16 AM

David Koresh was not a Mormon. Harry Reid, however, is a Mormon.

Mormons are taught that others that do not believe in the Celestial Kingdom are not worthy of consideration in this world.

Why should we trust a man as president that will not care to represent Americans that eschew belief in Joseph Smith's fairy tale.

Posted by Holy Reality on October 26, 2007 02:55 PM

mormonism is no less a cult than any type of christianity.

It seems to me that Mormons, as well as a number of other religions, hold that if you do not believe as they do you are evil.

I say that because it appears from the article below that Mormons hold that if you do not belief as they dictate you will go to their version of hell, and I assume that they also hold that only evil people go to that hell.

However, my only knowledge of what the Mormons believe in this respect comes from the following article from Beliefnet about the Mormon religion. If it is wrong, then I am wrong.

http://www.beliefnet.com/story/80/story_8035_1.html

"After Death
One's spirit immediately joins the spirit world and will be assigned to either paradise or spirit prison. Based on one's record of thoughts, words, and actions, righteous believers will live in a state of paradisiacal happiness. Unbelievers and sinners in spirit prison will live in misery, but they are provided the opportunity to repent, accept the gospel, receive ordinances performed for them by the living, and thus move to the lowest level of heaven. At the Final Judgment and Resurrection, most will be assigned to a one of three kingdoms of heaven where spiritual growth continues. Only a few, the most wicked sinners, will suffer eternal torture in the outer darkness, as most will have accepted the gospel and suffered for their sins enough by the end of the Millennium."
