Vote no on all Denver bond issues
Thursday, November 1 at 1:12 PM

Gary R Reed of Denver writes:

Let me begin by saying that I worked for the City of Denver for 31 years. I gave a lot of myself to the Fire Department and I believe that I have at least earned the right to comment on our current City government.
Lost in all the Rockies hoopla is the fact that Mayor Chickenlooper wants us to approve millions of dollars in bond issues. I wonder? Millions spent on dancing space aliens, blue bears and an exploded erector set called an Art Museum but we need to pony up (again) for necessary infrastructure.
Millions for artbut Mr. Mayor objects when someone proposes a decent pay raise for City Workers.
A Fire Fleet that has survived on bailing wire and glue (at enormous risk to the citizens of Denver) but nothing in this bond issue to buy equipment or increase the ranks of Firefighters.
I am voting NO all the way across the board on these issues and until and unless the Mayor gives equal voice to the real needs of this City instead of to the asceticshe wants in place for the Democratic National Convention, I will continue to vote no on every bond issue the City proposes.

This is the beautiful thing about politics done right. All Denver voters can go to the polls and cast a ballot in support of or against these bond measure...at which point Hick will do what is right...namely represent the will of the majority of voters...a trick that has been absent from the actions of the Republican party for many years.

The Far Right need to start representing their constituency or the beatings will continue.

You give Hickenlooper far too much credit. Just because he's going to loose doesn't mean he won't be back for more next time. Nor will he say "it's the will of the people".

Leave it to the Jay types to make turn this into a Republican issue. Republican derangement syndrome...

Here's the deal...putting it to the voters and acting accordingly IS representing the will of the people....and NO, you can't run from the Republican track record of refusing to do the same.

I'll be here to remind you of it until that nasty little habit changes.

Hick's alphabet--from A to Z--in the form of debt and tax hikes is voodoo economics. If its no good for the USA, then its also no good for Denver!

NO!

Hank you approve of Republican "voodoo" economics but disparage dem economics by will of the people?

That smells like hypocrisy to me

I have also worked for the city for more then thirty years. I also agree with Gary and also would like to ask. Whenever you have a choice in taxes. Keep any monies that you can because most of the time, you have no choice when it comes to tax increases.
