Locals awaiting call from Hall
Several players with local ties are hoping to hear from the College Football Hall of Fame.
The Class of 2006 for Division I-A will be announced today in New York and is expected to include 13 players and two coaches. Seventy-seven players are on the eligibility list this year -- a list that includes players from schools in Colorado, as well as collegians whose pro careers included time spent with the Denver Broncos.
Former Air Force athlete Chad Hennings and former University of Colorado athlete Bobby Anderson represent Colorado schools. Also nominated for induction are former Broncos players Otis Armstrong (Purdue),
Last week former Colorado College athlete John Gagliardi was voted into the Hall of Fame's divisional Class of ‘06.
Gagliardi, who has coached at Division III Saint John’s University the past 53 seasons, is college football’s all-time winningest coach with 432 victories.

Colorado Rockies outfielders Brad Hawpe and Matt Holliday have combined to hit 20 home runs this season, the majority coming with empty basepaths. Holliday has hit a team-high 11 homers, eight of them solo. All nine of Hawpe's homers this season have come with no runners on base.
