Save the polar bears and other costumes

The costume designers did some impressive work for today's anti-war march -- although they apparently weren't all designing for the same production.

There were what looked like papier-mache heads of Condoleezza Rice, Dick Cheney and George Bush, worn atop prison stripes.

OK, that works with anti-war theme. But what of the lifesize and, let's be honest, adorable polar bear being worn by two men who sweltered through the heat?

"It gets people's attention and makes them smile," said the costume's designer, Seattle resident Christopher Lutter. "People are more receptive if they're entertained."

After walking a mile in the blazing sun, the bear itself was less amused. "I'm here to say that if you humans aren't careful, we won't be around much longer," he said.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass' favor.
