Local Iraq War Vet to go backstage with Obama

John Volkmar will not only get to see Barack Obama's speech in Denver at Invesco Field the fourth night of the Democratic National Convention, he will be one of 10 people who gets to go backstage with him.

He is a University of Coloardo graduate student who said he went back to school to "work towards a more effective national energy policy." He is getting his MBA.

Volkmar did two tours in Iraq and served in the U.S. Army for 10 years. He was selected to be among the 10 backstage winners based on his 100-word essay. He will also have a private meeting with Obama prior to the speech on Aug. 28.

"Once I graduate, I hope to join Obama in taking on the influence of special interests and helping America develop a secure energy future," Volkmar said.
