The Patriot Act

As long as the Broncos defense continues to play at their current level it makes the Broncos very real Super Bowl contenders. Jake Plummer had a much better outing thanks in part to Javon Walker. The Bye week will certainly be one with his critics silenced, at least until he takes the field against the Ravens.

Tonight I drew right after the game and had an 11:00 o'clock deadline. It was tight and it doesn't leave a lot of room for error. I try to simplify the process a bit and the ideas I come up with have to able to be penciled and inked in under an hour. So I usually try to keep the concept pretty basic with just a few elements. That said I've gotten pretty used to working on these after-game deadlines and I've learned to sketch pretty fast. It's always fun to see what I can do quickly that hopefully doesn't look that way in the paper. The only problem is usually after I'm done. It's a pretty big adreneline rush to draw that close to deadline and because it's kind of late at night it takes awhile to wind down afterwards. It's a part of the life of a journalist.
