Bye Bye Birdie

The Broncos defense just keeps getting the job done. Not the most exciting thing to watch week in and week out but as long as the wins keep piling up I guess nobody really cares. I was all ready to go with a Jake Plummer cartoon but he picked up his play in the second half so I went with this image instead. The story of the season so far has been all defense. How long the Broncos can ride that magic carpet only time will tell. I didn't like the look of the hit that John Lynch took and losing him for any length of time could effect the whole defense. The Broncos' offense has to pick up the pace if the Broncos hope to be in contention for it all in January and February.

That hit on Lynch looked "helmet-to-helmet" to me. So do they only throw a flag on that if it's a defensive player on an offensive player??? Defensive guys can be vulnerable and get hurt, too.

Is it because the NFL let Lynch slide on that helmet to helmet hit he put on Eddie Kennison at Arrowhead last season.?

Or the the $90,000 in fines for the helmet to helmet hits Lynch has paided out over the last two seasons?

Your guess is as good as mine.
