The Year After That

The Rockies have come and gone and left another season of expectations in the dust. We'll hear the usual "there's always next year," but without some help from the free-agent market, this team is probably about the same as they were this season. And we all know, the team won't be digging into their deep pockets because they don't have any. So expect a free-agent deal like Jay Payton or some such nonsense just to make it look like they did something. If it were a team serious enough about their future, it would be time to entertain offers for Todd Helton, but we all know that won't happen. So be prepared to dig deep for another season of mediocrity. And don't forget the season after that.
