The Agony of Defeat
Oh, this time of year is painful. The mere thought of life without football just makes me shiver. Sure we still have the Super Bowl to look forward to but then we are left to face to the upcoming months of winter and spring with the mere prospect of pre-playoff basketball, sub-par hockey and another spring training with no hope. Only March Madness brings a brief respite until NFL draft day (one of my favorite days of the year) and then it's back in the deep freeze until training camp in July.
I will hold on to this weekends NFL championship games like Linus to his blanket, clinging to the last thread of another season unraveled before us. I'll do my best to pass the time purusing the upcoming baseball previews but, alas, that will bring little comfort. I'll check rivals.com to see how the Buffs recruiting class is doing. I'll even check LSU and Texas-El Paso (where I went to school) to see how they each faired in recruiting. But it won't replace the thrill of Saturday and Sunday afternoons spent with the remote, chicken wings and pigskin on the Tube.
If you feel the same way please leave me a comment or two. Maybe we can start a support group together.
