A.I. and Melo: adjustments

The jury is still out on the coexistence of A.I. and Melo. I'm enjoying drawing them regardless of whether the whole thing works out. I really think given time the two of the will do very well togehter as long as Melo continues to mature. I still think he has some growing up to do.
It's always great to be able to do the color cartoons as well. I think they pop on the printed page as well as the internet. Thanks for stopping by and reading. I'll return Saturday with another toon.

As I stated in a previous cartoon blog, I am done with being critical of Iverson (unless he really shows something really negative that cannot be ignored) because of his comments about the All-STAT Game (err....the All-Star Game). He was serious about wanting to sit it out and get better for the good of the team. I'll respect that.
Anthony is another story altogether. The guy just is too immature to be a go-to guy. He cannot be counted on to lead anyone anywhere. He wanted to get in the All-STAT (there I go again)..umm...All Star Game and get himself noticed. Well....he got noticed against San Antonio too. On national TV, he put up a whopping 15 points (*cough*...half hisaverage...*cough*).
Oops.
If only because the teams behind the Nuggets just are run so badly, ther is probably not a chance that Denver will miss the postseason. Of course, losing J.R. Smith could be the thing that sends them out of the playoff picture altogether. They'll likely get the 7th or 8th seed. The prize? Getting swept in 4 games.
I would go as far to say that judging by the way Denver has played they actually don't deserve to make the playoffs, but they'll get there anyway. They just won't do anything at all because they still play as individuals. They have no one to run the show. Miller was selfish, but at least he distributed the ball more than the current crew. Blake is overachieving. I saw him play in Washington a lot and he was never this way for very long. It will not last. He's a fringe bench player at best.
Trading Earl Boykins and Miller was a very bad decision. Denver will pay dearly for it. Iverson is a nice player....but ....
Here's the other deal. Denver has so much money tied up in so few players (Anthony, Iverson, Camby, Nene, Martin) that they have almost no room to add regular impact players like the defender they so badly need. They overspent on offense.
Somewhere Jeff Bzdelik and Kiki are breathing a sigh of relief that they don't have this disaster on their hands.

Once again, Drew uses the kids gloves on the Nuggets. These poor guys just need some time to adjust. Will Drew EVER tell it like it is? Will he ever acknowledge what a selfish jerk Carmelo Anthony is? Only a selfish jerk can be so wrapped up in making an All Star team that it hurts his play in real games and hurts his team. Only a selfish jerk cares more about personal achievement than that of the team. Can you even imagine Joe Sakic (or any of the Avs) worrying more about making an All Star team than winning? Or more about their stats than winning? It would NEVER happen. But Drew loves the Nuggets, so he'll never say these things. Gotta protect precious Anthony, right Drew?
