Mike D'Antoni is in control of who goes on the court for the West. Mike D'Antoni decides how many minutes each player gets to play. So...Anthony could potentially see very few minutes anyway. I am sure that D'Antoni didn't vote for Anthony, so even though David Stern showed a bit of "mercy" in naming him a replacement, it doesn't mean that D'Antoni needs to show any mercy here.
Anthony is still an immature brat who is still only worried about his own stats because he's still in LeBron James' shadow as far as popularity goes.
Anthony thinks that sheer numbers get you into places like the All-Star game. No....
It's voted on by the fans. It's a popularity contest for the starters. Shaq didn't deserve to be there this year.
Coaches, however, know the deal. They aren't about to embarrass themselves by allowing a player to be on the team that might cause them grief. Anthony will continue to be a problem child until finally he gets traded for a bag of dirty socks for the first time. Maybe then, that will be verification that he needs to act like an adult.
One of the problems here also is George Karl. If Karl were any kind of man, he would simply bench Anthony for a game or two. Give him a firm, stern signal that unless Anthony is willing to stop this primadonna crap and step up and be a real leader, then he just isn't going to play.
Good luck with that happening.

Why so much Melo bashing? He deserves to be on the all-star team, and here's why:
Basketball, more than any other professional sport, is the game of the street, and therefore is often referred to as a game of thugs. Upon absorbing all comments, I have become fully convinced that Melo’s immaturity and selfishness makes him a poor candidate to invite to a bake sale, and for bingo night as well. But, as I described from the 2nd sentence of my comment on (providing the context for the first sentence. Okay.
How about this.
Anthony's scoring average is based on playing in fewer games than any of the other players in the top tier of league scorers. That means the numbers are thrown off by sheer numbers of games played. Lets imagine for a moment that in those 15 games he had missed, that he had only averaged, oh, 20 points a game. His average falls a lot! And then suddenly, he's not a scoring leader anymore.
The reason he is leading the team in scoring is because he's perfectly selfish. (And don't go saying that suddenly he's wonderful because he had a triple double recently.) The triple double was a freak thing. In fact, it's so freakish that it took him 3 seasons to finally get one.

Let’s see then, you "imagine" his scoring average would drop, you insert a new arbitrary scoring average which meets your needs, and suddenly in your fantasy world, Anthony is not the scoring leader, thereby crushing his case for an all-star berth. I can hear John Lennon singing "Imagine" right now, but unfortunately, the NBA plays a real all-star game, not an imaginary one based on your fanciful what ifs.
Your dislike of Anthony as a person is your own business and as I said earlier, I don't expect you to take the guy fishing. But, if you want to argue about the actual all-star game rather than your imaginary one, can you provide any actual reason why Anthony doesn't belong in the NBA all-star game?
