Enduring Rockies games

I'm really going to miss Alan Roach who is the Rockies P.A. announcer. He always set the tone for Coors field and you never realize how important those guys are until they are gone. I'm sure it has been difficult sitting through the Rockies games especially those rain delays which we all know can go on for weeks.

Looks like it is another day of digging out from the snow. Actually watching a Rockies game sounds pretty good about now.

I hadn't heard that! I always thought that he had a great voice for an announcer. I got a kick out of his lackluster intros for opposing players - if you didn't know better, you'd think he was reading the obituaries. He always had a great feel for the progress of the game and it really came through in his announcing.

Lastly, I'll always remember that first time hearing his voice and asking my buddy, "Hey, isn't that the guy from 103.5 The Fox?"

Congratulations to Alan on a great career. He'll be missed.

I'm just thankful he isn't going completely away. That was my biggest fear when I heard he had resigned from the Rox. At least he'll still be at the Pepsi Center for Avalanche games. Best PA voice in the land...NO QUESTION!!!

    Roach's voice is so low
    it's almost unlistenable.
    He's always been too much
    of a homer. Since when
    did that become acceptable
    in baseball? Save the
    over-the-top, contrived,
    gravelly voice delivery
    for the gangsta-infested,
    NBA. Roach just talks
    for a living...that's it. What
    other skills does he possess?
As for the final three contestants vying to replace
    him...give me a break.
    Jim Hudson has a slight
    lisp and mispronounces
    the word grocery to sound
    like "gro-shur-ee." Reed
    Saunders' cold read was
    flat, boring and lacked
    conviction. As for Conor,
the young, wet-behind-the-ears Roach wannabe, swing
and a miss! I attended the audition to support one of the
    contestants who should've
been in the top three. I've
    heard Ron Milhorn announce
games many times on the air
and over the PA and he could
    run circles around anyone
in the house. It's your loss.
I'll find a new team to cheer
    for this season.

Kelly has many, many, skills other than the use of his wonderful vocals..... take it from a woman that knows!
