Was Vick Sincere?

drew0828.gif

I'm not sure I buy into Michael Vick's apology. It comes a little too little, a little too late for me. While not completely scripted it seemed contrived. What do you guys think?

Just a note on the Fraternal Order of Pigskin Fantasy Football League. We had great response but still don't have a full league. If you got an invite you still need to register on the ESPN site. If you didn't get an invite but are still interested let me know today so that I can send out another round of invites and fill the league by tomorrow. we want to draft sometime this week and since the Broncos play Thursday we're probably looking at Wednesday evening about 7.pm. So please hurry.

We also are looking at Friday, September 7 for the 25th Anniversary celebration of win, lose & Drew here on the blog and in the paper as well. Should be fun. I'm going to do a Q & A here on the blog so if you have questions you've been wanting to ask me the last 25 years here's your chance. Just leave them in the comments section.

To me it seemed Vick is more sorry that he got caught and his football career is on indefinite hold rather than showing any remorse for the actions that landed him in trouble. But then again, can we expect anything different in today's celebrity-driven culture?

I have to agree with Crash. This is sort of a, "Well I plead guilty because I got sold out by my friends, so I'm sorry" statement. I didn't see much sincerity in his words.

I only think he apologized in hopes of swaying the judge to give him a lesser sentence and in hopes the NFL doesn't ban him from the game.

I'm not buying it. The whole thing sounded kind of rehearsed to me. it kind of bugged me for awhile now about the seeming lack of remorse he had through the whole ordeal, only to finally apologize long after the lies he kept sweeping under the rug began to rot and stink up the place.

This will cost him more than 100 million dollars, he faces a real possibility of not playing in the NFL again, and he is about to take the biggest fall of a superstar that I can recall... ...yeah, I would be sorry too.

While I would tend to agree that his apology wasn't the most sincere, I honestly don't think we should start ranking apologies.

There's hardly anything more frustrating than sincerely apologizing, and having it be determined for you that it wasn't a sincere apology.

The proof will be in whether Vick does grow up, and redeem himself. Until then, I think we have to take his apology as sincere.

What Vick said yesterday honestly should have been "I'm sorry I got caught!" "Ive enbarassed myself, lost my job, millions of dollars and may possibly lose my virginity in prison" Maybe that would have come off as more sincere and beliavable. Your right he's being coached. He sure did'nt come forward from the beginning, even denying his involvement! When his homies turned thats when the tune changed. Anybody want my Vick rookies?

    On another foorball subject:

"It's been revealed Denver Broncos running back Travis Henry has fathered nine children with nine women and is behind on his child support payments despite signing a $25 million contract that included a $1 million signing bonus."

    As Archie Bunker would say....

    HAAAHHH?????

Can someone explain to me how this guy just cannot keep it in his pants? Jesus.

And when you sign a HUGE freaking contract....YOU PAY YOUR CHILD SUPPORT. Even when you don't sign a HUGE freaking contract, YOU PAY YOUR CHILD SUPPORT! Especially when you just go around fertlizing the country.

Just like Mike Shanahan....get another idiot in here that has character issues.

Note to Pat Bowlen...Make your cheerleaders wear S.W.A.T. team type body armor, or you might have to explain how it is that your cheerleaders are looking a little more rounded around the middle come December.

I know I shouldn't, but I actually feel a little sorry for anyone who wants to associate themselves by name with one of the biggest idiots on the planet...Eminem (aka. Slim Shady).

Man....if this is who you listen to, you are starving yourself of actual, real music. You are, in a sense, musically challenged.

Try some Django Reinhart or Wynton Marsalis....Try some Robert Johnson, Carlos Santana, Frank Zappa, or Bob Dylan. Toss in some Albert King and some Stevie Ray Vaughn....add a sprinkle of Jackson Browne, Fleetwood Mac and the Doors....and then you'll have something.

One last thought for you S.S.......You've likely been listening to the radio and come across a song you probably don't like. What do you do? You have 3 choices. You either turn off the radio, change the station, or keep listening.
Think of this forum as a radio, and realize that you actually have a choice to "turn the dial."

    Cheers.

I don't know if Vick was sincere or not in his apology, only he will know. But I do know that what he did was wrong. Hopefully Goodell will send Vick packing just like baseball did to Pete Rose. If he doesn't can you imagine the fire storm that team he plays for would face when he eventually comes back?? Hope you like the color orange and lots of bars Vick, because that is what you will be looking at for a long time.

Vick could be done with his career on the idea that he was gambling. I heard that gambling alone can get someone a lifetime ban if they gambled on ANYTHING, let alone sports. ...which is why Vick vehmently denies that charge. He says he lost money, but he never got any of the winnings. Either he's the worst gambler in the world where he can only lose, or he is lying. It depends on if the commisioner buys it. I'm guessing he won't.
