The balls that are in play when the Rockies are batting are not the same as the balls the opponent gets to hit. There are people who work for the Rockies who know this as a fact. The humidor was announced as a ploy to make people think otherwise.

All of you people are hypocrites. You're the same people who were calling every radio show on the planet earlier in the year and demanding Hurdle's head on a platter. Now you love him?

It's like Rockies fans are turning into Yankees Fans West. What a bunch of bandwagon bums. You sit in the shadows for a decade, and when the Rockies get lucky because other teams get screwed due to phantom out calls, phantom strike zones that somehow don't apply when the Rockies are at bat, and that the Rockies are supporting an obvious steroid user in Matt Holliday.

    From News Services:

With its matchup of small-market, tradition-poor teams, the National League Championship Series is setting TV ratings lows.

The Colorado Rockies' 11-inning, 3-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 2 on Friday night drew a 2.2 national rating, less than half of the lowest-ever prime-time league championship series rating before this season (4.9).

Game 1 on Thursday night, when more viewers traditionally watch TV, had set the previous record low of 3.6.

    Game 2 started at 10:12 p.m. and ended at 2:46 a.m.
    ---------------------------------

    Wow.

Based on this, there isn't going to be a soul who cares to watch the World Series.

You can thank your Rockies for basically ruining America's past time.
    Cleveland vs. Colorado?
    That's a nightmare.

Should be fun playing in a 20 degree windchill, eh?

He's a fraud. Helton hit 49 home runs a handful of years back. Guess why?
He took a whole lot of steroids.

Now he hits about 15 per year.

    Matt Holliday is no hero.

Matt's head has gotten considerably larger the last two years. He's rapidly losing his hair. Both signs of steroid abuse (see barry Bonds. Bonds started ordering larger helmets soon after arriving in San Francisco, and also started shaving his head so it wouldn't be as obvious that the steroids were taking their toll on his hairline.) We used to see Holliday sporting curly locks, and now suddenly he's a cue ball.

He's on steroids. He knows it, and he's using the drugs to cash in on a big contract with Scott Boras. He's in it for the money. He doesn't care about your kids. He wants you to spend your money on Rockies products so that he can get a bigger paycheck. The same for Todd Helton.
Ever seen his commercials? he's asking people to donate their car and change a kid's life. Well, Todd - How about you go donate your absurd $17 Million salary and change a bunch of people's lives?

You're making a big mistake by telling your kid to look up to these frauds.

As a Rockies fan, I think I speak for all of us when I say that we were all just happy to see our Rocks make it past .500. When we saw our team make it to the playoffs in an extra game, we were euphoric. To now see them sweep both the Phillies and the D-Backs, forget about it, this is the best time to be a Rockies fan and a baseball fan.

Anyone who could allege that the Rocks don't deserve to be here is either a Padres fan or (to quote a personal hero) a pickle sucker. That last play of the Padres/Rockies game came with one out, so even if Holliday was out (and I don't think there was any camera shot that definitively showed that he was), there was still one more out to play. The Rockies aren't playing the rockem sockem baseball of the Blake St Bombers, they're playing solid defense, the likes of which hasn't been seen around baseball in a good long time. Sure, the Rockies have had a few lucky breaks, but so what? That's what happens when you get on a roll, good things happen to you. Regardless you can't call them game or series changing breaks, the Rockies have been playing great baseball, that's why they've been winning in spades. I won't even touch the steroids allegations brought up here, because they're just so absurd.

The Rockies are great for baseball, and great for this state. People forget that the Rockies aren't just a Denver team, they're a Colorado team, and as a student away from home, it's great to see them doing so well.

Todd Helton...for the two years of working up through the ranks in the minors...for the eleven years of gutting it out with the Rockies...for the talk about trading him to the Boston Red Soxs...it was really a moment to see him catch the throw from TroyTulowitzki to make that final out against the Arizona Diamond backs. From long time veterans to recently called up rookies...this is a team...and desire is ALWAYS the greatest of all equalizers. Congratulations to all and may your best days be ahead of you.

It wasn't too long ago these guys were 18-27. Amazing how the season turned around. Its been fun to watch Helton finally get his chance in the postseason. Its also been fun watching the young guys develop this season the way they have.

And to the haters. Coors field is a crock, the Sox/Indians are better, etc. etc. You guys need to do some fact checking:

The Rox took 2/3 from the Sox in Fenway this season. Lost to Wakefield, beat Beckett, and completely deystroyed Schilling. Scored 12 runs against them when Schilling pitched. Guaranteed there isn't a manager that wants to face the Rockies lineup right now.

The Rockies are also the best defensive team in baseball, and have THE best fielding percentage of all time this season. Not to mention their pitching has been outstanding.

The average runs at Coors field this season was just above the league average, and wasn't anywhere close to being the highest. That would have been in Philly. Bobby Cox himself said the toughest pitching park in the National League was Cinncinnati. Didn't even mention Coors.

To the haters: Try getting your facts straight before posting your crap.

Where would the Rockies be without his defense?

If Helton were any kind of a man, he would have either given back most of his annual salary each year or at least restructured his contract year ago to allow it to be consistent with his level of production.

And Helton's defense is average at best. He's no better than a lot of first basemen in the league.

He hasn't been worth his contract since he hit his 49 home runs. Of course, most of us realists who pay attention know WHY he hit those, and WHY he hasn't hit that many since. BALCO , anyone?

And Helton is one of the best first basemen in the Majors. If you can't see that, then you don't know baseball.

I don't regret staying up unter 3 in the morning watching them win in 11 innings. This team is amazing. WCH is right..the Rockies are ruining baseball.
Baseball should only be played by teams in warm climates--like New York, Boston, and Detriot.
It should only be played by teams that stay in one place and are loyal to their fans--like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Oakland.
It should only be played by teams in major markets--like Cincinnati, Minneapolis, and Atlanta.
The World Series should only feature two teams that are geographically seperate. Like Kansas City and St. Louis or San Francisco and Oakland.
It should only feature teams that dominated through the entire season not some flash in the pan team--like the '69 Mets
    It seems that his baseball
history is as flawed as his economic theory.

This eight day stretch is the death trap on this lucky streak. There's no way for the Rockies to simulate real game situations during their break.
A celebration will certianly take place at Coors Field, but it will not involve the Rockies.

I've always dreamed of the Rockies playing in the WS on a Monday night and the Broncos playing on MNF at the same time. Then, in the middle of the football game, the Rockies clinch the championship, the Mile High crowd goes wild and empties the stadium to join the celebration in the streets, leaving the MNF broadcast to show a nearly empty stadium for the rest of the game.

I wonder if MNF would show the fireworks if the Rockies win during their broadcast. I know they don't have a license to show the game but they could show the celebration.

Anybody want to guess what the Broncos TV ratings will be on that night especially if the Rockies could clinch it?

Please, I just want to know what unlucky team it is that you root for or if you root for anyone. I am a realistic person..I know that the Rockies can't expect to have the whole country adorn them because they have been a bad team for a long time. But I don't think being bad usually makes people upset or vidictive. The Cubs don't win alot but they have their faithfull following. Same in Colorado. We love our Rockies...even the band wagnoners. I have sat in the stands sicne 1993 and have lost my voice many times cheering my boys on...So when I see people start cheering for the team just because they are winning, it makes me a little upset, but when I sit back a think about it...Why not jump on the train,,,there is enough seats on the Rockies band wagon...The Nuggets Bandwagon fans are here too now that the Nugs have an All-Star cast. But after this wild ride is over, no matter what happens, WIN or LOSE...I will be in the stands next year, cheering till i lose my voice and believing that my team, MY ROCKIES, will win the World Series...

Another great cartoon Drew. You do seem to always capture a special moment perfectly.

I have been a season ticket holder since 1994 and went to as many games as I could that first year. The thing that stands out the most about this season, is how the team came together as a single unit. You could see it early on, but they came up just short too many times to win. As the year progressed, that winning distance decreased until it became a winning streak to rival any team in history.

As for the likes of WCH, TC, LHR and any other hater... don't pay any attention to them. They just like to annoy people and get a reaction. The WORLD SERIES will drown out all the idiots and other background nuisances...
