Drew: Broncos contend or pretend?

DREW1208.gif

The Broncos keep playing under the pretense that they are a contender. Clearly losing to the Raiders and Bears is not helping their case. Sunday is a must-win situation for the Broncos if they hope to keep any hope alive for a season gone ,if not bad, certainly wacko.
Which, of course, makes for some good cartoon fodder.

21 games into the NBA season, and the Nuggets have ONE win against a winning team.

It's not difficult to see why no one takes this franchise seriously.

Denver plays in the WORST division in the entire Western Conference. The Jazz are the only legit franchise in the division.

Awful. Just awful basketball from Denver. The only exciting player the team has had in the last 10 years was Boykins.

    Prediction -

    Kansas City - 37

    Denver - 6

    Bank on it.

Cutler tosses 5 INT's. Is benched. And his career as a Bronco comes to an end.

    You were close.

    Broncos 41

I took the Broncos in my suicide Pool so I banked on it just like you said...except I banked on a winner!

Please. Can everyone just stop talking about the Donkeys?
    They're out of the picture.
San Diego won today, so it's over. Let's all get that through our heads. I hate this team because all the Donkeys do is give false hope every year. It is, as Drew has drawn out, a Trojan Horse every year.
This team isn't getting better. It's getting worse. Cutler fumbled yet another snap. He's going to get himself seriously injured on one of these boneheaded plays where he decides to run with the ball and drive headfirst into a gang of tacklers. He's going to end up dead as a doornail. He's a dumb, reckless idiot of a QB. He's not the answer. The Broncos really need to trade for a real QB this offseason. And they need to fire Mike Shanahan.

The Broncos are not out of it yet. San Diego could go on a losing streak and the Broncos could go on a winning streak. Yes this is the delusions of a rabid fan however, It's not over till it's over.

I think Cutler will be a fine QB. He just needs more time to mature. He is already a better QB than many in the league and he is only in his second year.

31 teams give their fans false hope every year. Only one lives up to the hype every year. Sometimes being a fan means believing year after year that your team is the one.

As for replacing the head coach...it might be time for that. But only Pat Bowlen is qualified to make that call.

Cutler IS the most reckless quarterback in the league. You hit that right on the head. He's going to blow out a shoulder and be done for his career very soon.
As for his fumbling, the only QB in the NFL that drops the ball more without being touched is Tony Romo. Cutler will be out of the league within 2 seasons. He simply does not win consistently, and when he does win, he either wins against terrible teams, or if the Broncos win against a decent team, it is despite Cutler.
He's never been a winner. He's not about to start now.
And Shanahan, please step down right now. Your public defense of travis Henry was embarrassing. You've apparently learned nothing since the Maurice Clarett situation.

NEWS FLASH: A report from the "other newspaper" website, aka DP.

Broncos punter Todd Sauerbrun acknowledged he was cited early Saturday morning for simple assault involving a cab driver outside a Cherry Creek restaurant.

He allegedly struck the driver in the back of the head after being ordered out the vehicle for belligerent behavior.

Sauerbrun, Denver's punter, declined to elaborate about the incident but said he will discuss it later.

Nice. Probably a steroid-induced rage. What's Shanny going to do now? Publicly defend Todd like he did Travis Henry? When is Shanny going to figure out that defending these boneheads is futile? They're a waste of salary cap space, and a waste of good air.

Oh, by the way.... Hi again folks. I have returned from Yonder. I just got a little fed up with this board for a while and had to take a long, extended break. I'll be checking in from time to time.

Miss me? I knew that you could.

It's amazing how down a bunch of haters can be on a young team. Are you all the same people that were bad mouthing the Rockies in May?

Cutler is a future Pro Bowler, Brandon Marshall is the next TO, Sheffler is the next Tony Gonzalez, Dummervill is the next Dwight Freeney.
Before you bad mouth Jay Cutler, just remember how Favre and Elway looked their first full season of starting.

Glad to be back. Just needed to distance myself for a while. Things were getting a bit off tilt here on the board. We'll see how round two goes.

I guess i have tons of stuff to eventually remark on, but I'll take it one news story at a time.....There'll be plenty of good fodder to touch on.
