Thanks, Drew, for such a creative strip. All the things you mention would seem unbearable if it weren't for the long season ahead--one of the great things about Baseball. I'm not worried about Tulo getting his hands back, and Holliday's too good of a hitter to stay in a slump for long. However, I'm not so confident in our pitching rotation: Francis will get it most of the time; Cook's heart is worth a lot, but Jimenez and Morales have a lot of growing up to do and not sure what to think about Redman now. Take care.

In case anyone was actually missing the standard issue Colorado Rockies....

    They're back.

1-4 and reeling. No offense, suspect defense, and a manager that cannot make in-game adjustments to save his life.
This team is as bad as any in baseball so far this first week. It's not as if they didn't get a hell of a break in the rain out and the 2-1 make up game (they were gifted the win with and error and a bases loaded walk). They should be 0-5.
Just awful. Wow. Today's loss was a stinker.
What happened to the team from last Fall? Was it a fluke? It certianly looks like one now.

Yes, I'd agree that it's early. I'd also agree that this Rockies team has been built to hit, and that's all. If they were serious, they'd go get some real pitching. Where were the Monforts when they could have bid on Santana? They could have gotten Hudson. They could have gotten any othe pitchers than the ones they have now. Francis is a terrible pitcher who relies on offense to cover up his mistakes. Jimenez and Morales are jokes. I won't even talk about Cook except to say he should give back all the money he just signed for.
The Rockies will never be a true team until the Monforts ante up like real owners do. I was a STH until 2 years ago when I got fed up. Best decision I ever made was to give up on this sad sack franchise until the Monforts aren't owners anymore. Last year was a fluke. When will Rockies fans get that through their heads?

Congratulations on the overreaction Tom. We're 5 games into the season. Are there things to be concerned about? Of course, but it's far too early to be writing the season off because there's 157 FREAKING GAMES TO GO!!! This is not football.

Actually, now they're 6 games into the seaon, and have scored 10 runs in 6 games. They're absolutely awful. The reason they led 1-0 for so wasn't because Morales was pitching well. He still had major control issues, which seems to be the theme for this season thus far for Rockies pitches. The Diamondbacks should have been leading at least 4-1 by the 5th inning, but they just didn't get a 2-out hit when they had their runners on.
The Rockies were actually never in this game, even when they were up 1-0. Reason? They just knew they were going to blow it. They can't score.
It's unreal that people in this city actually are expecting that the Rockies are going to turn some corner just because they were hot for 3 weeks out of their entire history. This is the same team as last Spring that sucked it for most of the season. The hot streak everyone is waiting for is not going to happen. That's not how it works.

The Rockies are a terrible team, and nothing is going to change that. Look how they repay their followers for paying obnoxious prices last year. They go 1-5 to start the season, and that's AFTER raising ticket prices.

    Pretty awful.

    Cheers.

    Hahahaahahah!!!!!

Where are all of these Bandwagon Rockies fans now?

    Your darling team is 1-5.
Holliday is hitting .182, Tulowitzki is hitting .192, and they have combined totals of 1HR, 1RBI, and 13 strikeouts.
Tulowitzki also has 2 errors in just 6 games. That's awesome!

    Hahahahaahahahaha!!!!!!

So, where are all the bandwagoners? Guess they're getting ready to see the Avalanche get KO'd by the Wild.

    Hahahaahahahaha!!!!!!

I didn't even know that the losers of the World Series actually got rings. I think that's incredibly stupid.
Yes, I know that the rings are really for winning the NLCS, but it's still stupid.
You don't see NHL or NBA teams getting rings for winning the Eastern or Western Conferences, so what in hell is this awarding of rings for in MLB?
1st loser is still 1st loser. Losers aren't supposed to get awards. They're supposed to go home and try harder. Guess the Rockies didn't get the memo. I guess enjoy your bogus jewelry guys, the Diamondbacks just proved that you didn't deserve it. You're one-hit wonders. Always were, and always will be.
    Rings for losers. What's next?
Just think about how many people the Rockies players could help if they donated the vaule of those bogus rings to people who needed it. The money they spent on worthless rings could go toward books for schools, clothing and food for the Denver homeless, or any other good cause you could think of.
These players have their priorities really messed up. Don't these idiots have enough money?

    Jeff,

you just have to realize that Tom, and Trash hero have been waiting since the end of last season for ANY reason to talk trash on the Rockies...Tom was dead wrong last year so he's venting a little right now...its OK to vent Tom....like i said some of your thoughts are interesting

I'm not venting. I'm just doing my usual thing. As in The Godfather...."it's not personal, it's business."
I don't always need a reason to rip on the Rockies, but sometimes they provide the reason, as they are doing currently.
Right now, their a particularly easy target, and they can only blame themselves.

    Cheers.

And look where we ended up. With that said, I'm a loyal Rockies fan but personally think that it will be difficult for the Rocks to get back to the WS this year.......even if the machine starts rolling. Give us a few more years of experience and I think we'll be a force.

As fan of all Denver sports, I am a little disappointed that there is little coverage of the one real contest revving up: NHL playoffs. Yes, everybody was proud to see the Rocks do so well last year. But the Avs are looking pretty good heading into the playoffs and all I see are cartoons painstakingly chronicling the first 6 games of a 162-game season! If this is what I can expect for the next two months I will not be returning until there is some content that actually merits my time. Drew, I like the toons but lets face it, the first half of the baseball season is boring (much like the first half of the hockey season), give us something to enjoy.

No one is interested in the Avalanche because the Wild are going to completely destroy them. Our penalty kill and shutdown defense will absolutlely suffocate Colorado. Gabby is going to torch Theodore.
Minnesota in 5, but more likely a sweep. We have much better depth in every aspect of the game. And we have Backstrom. You guys really should have tanked in the last game and tried to draw San Jose instead.
