Denver Broncos: Fan Fair

By far my favorite topic to draw about is the Broncos. So many changes on the team roster and within the organization will provide me with plenty of cartoon material for the next few months. I took some time this last week to work on a new animated cartoon that is about Broncos. I hope to have it ready sometime next week or the week after at the latest. Keep checking back. I really think you're going to like it.

A Happy 82 birthday goes out T.K. Ryan, creator of the western comic strip, Tumbleweeds. I have one of his originals on my studio wall for inspiration. If you like comics you have to check out http://www.comicsreporter.com/ . It's a great site packed full of some great information.

    Breaking News:

Joe Sakic has been traded to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Henrik Sedin and the Canucks 1st round draft pick in 2009.

Yes. TSN.ca had a quick blurb on their site at around 1:55 stating the same thing, but it's since been taken down from the site. I've been spending the last hour and some trying to track down more info. Nothing about this on the Avs website yet. Nothing on NHL.com either. Did something fall through on this deal? As much as I would miss Joe, having Henrik on the Avs would rock!

Was this some kind of sign and trade deal????

Lots of Sakic talk the last week. Now I'm starting to really doubt that he's returning next season. Oh well. The Avs had a good run. I suppose it's time for the other teams in the NHL to have their turn in the spotlight. Without Joe, the Avs will be just another run of the mill franchise. Bleah.

Question: Will there be a riot when Sakic tells the general public that he's hanging up his skates?
Answer: Yes. And it's very likely that the general public will torch the Pepsi Center.

When Sakic is gone, Kronke may as well pack up the team and move it back to Quebec, because they won't sell season ticket one without Joe around.

Wow, I can't believe that the Avs figured out how to trade free agents. Next thing you know they're gonna send Marion Hossa to Toronto for 1st and 3rd round picks. It's not possible to trade Sakic right now so people please, please stop listening to these idiots.

    Taz writes:

While it's not possible to trade a free agent, it is possible for the Avalanche to sign Sakic, and THEN trade him. So stop being ignorant of this fact Charlie. People here in Denver seem to think that Sakic is never going away. If the Avs feel that he's valuable enough to swap for other players that can help this franchise avoid being uncompetitive for the next decade, then yes, he's worth trading. People have to remember that he's not a native of Colorado. He didn't start his NHL career here. He's from Vancouver, and will be returning there when he's done playing in the NHL. He won't be deeply involved with the Colorado Avalanche. Maybe some of his charities, but not the Avalanche. Get with the program and stop riding this idea that Sakic is some kind of Holy, untouchable individual. He isn't.

Taz, you make an excellent point. Avalanche fans will be able to surface the Pepsi Center Rink with their tears when Sakic is finally gone.

God people. Many of you ask like he's Jesus Christ of Denver or something. He's a canadian hockey player. A CANADIAN hockey player. He was Vancouver's first. He was lent to the city of Quebec, and was stolen by the city of Denver.

What kind of idiot card do you need to own to post inaccuracies about Joe Sakic getting traded? Someone has been trying to get Colorado riled up for over a week now.

Joe's a professional. If he decides to retire he will announce it in front of all of us. He doesn't do things under the table. Joe knows no other way. That's why we respect him so much.

Charlie - How about you stop acting like you know everything also? You're acting like you're Joe's brother or something.
I've met Sakic. He was extremely standoffish. I politely asked him for an autograph for my 7-year old and he walked away. He's about as professional as Travis Henry.

    Hey Charlie and Jacob,
What kind of idiot card does one need to keep arguing with people just to argue with people? All you're doing by insinuating that people are idiots just because they don't share your point of view is egging them on to continue. So far as I can tell, all opinions are welcome here so long as personal attacks on fellow posters are avoided. You're laying down personal attacks when you start off with "idiot" remarks. Seems to me that Cahrlie and Jacob are the ones gunning for a fight. All that the other posters are doing is remarking on things they heard about. Talking about facts, rumors and such are what blogs are for. It's the reason they exist.
Charlie and Jacob would do us all a favor and find somewhere else to toss their negativity around.
