Drew cartoon: A Nuggets Budget Cut

DREW0718.gif
The madness continues for the Nuggets as they dump salaries almost daily. I don't know why they are getting rid of the only players they have who play defense but they seem awfully intent on it. It's been a strange , strange off season.

Animation Update: The next Broncs Zoo animation is almost ready. You can expect it online sometime next week. It's kind of an interactive game, so you'll be able to actually click your way through it. This one has been a challenge but thanks to the help and guidance of fellow cartoonist and animator Rich Moyer it's coming together. Rich is an amazingly gifted animator who has been so incredibly giving of his time to teach me the ins and outs of Flash.

It's not really Kronke's fault. That really shoud be Carmelo Anthony, Allen Iverson, and Kenyon Martin under the blade. They're the ones not living up to the contracts they signed. They're the ones that handcuffed the Nuggets franchise.
Oh, and also the 3-headed GM. Kronke just pays the bills. He's done what he neede to do by signing checks. It's up to the players collecting those checks to perform enough to win.

Ha ha, what's the deal with him wearing cowboy boots and spurs?

This cartoon is completely ridiculous. Should Kronke continue to throw $100 million away in salaries and luxury tax season after season for a team that cannot get past the first round?

It sucks to see guys like Camby and Najera go, but there are many more changes to come. This team will look drastically different in 12 months and that is a better alternative to watching this group underachieve again.

By reading the comments after Post and News articles as well as a couple of very good Nuggets blogs it is clear that at least 75% of Nuggets fans have no clue what it takes to run a team.

This cartoon is in poor taste. Drew, you’ve crossed the line between analogy to advocacy and are now endorsing murder. I’m surprised this cartoon got past the editor.

What is this? Silent Stan has agreed to pay the third highest payroll in the NBA to lose quickly in the first round the last 3 years. How can you criticize him for that?

This cartoon is seriously offensive, Drew. Try taking your anger out in other ways, like killing a golf ball, or a couple of hours in the batting cages...

    So, say you're Stan Kronke.

You've shelled out hundreds of millions of dollars to UNDERACHIEVING people to play children's games.

These people don't care enough to give a professional effort night in and night out even though they are making HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS more than most of the other people that live on Planet Earth.

Exactly how much more is Stan supposed to invest in this kind of crap? I hope he makes a public statement to the effect that until the CURRENT Nuggets players show something that tells Stan that they can EARN their current contract, that no more money will be invested in this team. All of these players act so entitled to everything. I've completely had it with the primmadonnas and I'm guessing that Stan has finally seen the light on this as well. Let's hope so.

    The End.

Wow. That is about all you can say about this toon. Glad to see some other people offended by it also.

Wow, this is tactless even for Litton. The cynical old tart has gotten away with some of his more scathing pieces because they appear to be drawn by fourth graders and people's natural instincts is not to criticize children. However, try to keep it at the forefront of your minds that it's actually an adult man, a senior citizen no less - a man who adds absolutely positive to the social landscape of this fine city.

I don't like the way Kroenke runs his teams, but to insinuate he should be killed is disgusting. Maybe it's some kind of Freudian reversal from a man questioning the point of his own life - I know if I were doodling cartoons into my 70s I'd want to die.
