Drew Cartoon: Rockies Fans Wardrobe

DREW0715.gif

So here we are at the All-Star break lamenting a season gone south. Hard to believe the Rockies have fallen so far so fast. Thank goodness for football previews and the countdown to Broncos camp. Kind of our saving grace here in Colorado.

I'm working on another animation that I hope to post by training camp. This one will be interactive, which means you can control the elements somewhat by clicking on certain parts of it. I think you'll have some fun with it.

Actually, with all due respect, I think it's quite easy to believe the Rockies have fallen so far so fast. They have owners who don't care one bit about their own players or fans. Having such an ownership will doom a franchise. The problem here, right now, is that the Monforts have discarded any and all good will that they found (yes, found...they did not earn it) last Fall. It's gone, never to return. Even if Charlie and Dick put pen to paper today and signed Holliday to a fat contract, the good will would still be non-existent. Why? Because if they sign Holliday, then Atkins, Hawpe, and everyone else is gone, because if the Monforts give out a $150 Million contract, it will be the one and only contract of its kind to ever be offered. But it's actually silly to even consider such a contract while C & D are at the helm. Todd Helton and his twisted spine are still owed $56 Million in guaranteed cash.
That is the anchor that will be the final straw in the Monforts mind as to why they would never consider tossing money to Holliday.
It makes one wonder what Matt will think about playing in New York for the All-Star Game. He might well be playing left field in pinstripes sooner than we think.

    Drew-
Another great toon. You have captured the fair-weather Denver fan prefectly. Thanks.

If Holliday stays, great! IF he goew, wish him luck and thank him for a great run last year. Either way, and in spite of the managment, the Rockies are not completly out. They are just in a similar situation as the last 5 years. Let's see what they can do from here!!

What the Rockies will and can do is to fall 30 games below .500, and it's extremely possible that they are capable of it. This team won't even win 65 games.

Can't wait to get home tonight for the All-Star game and watch Matt Holliday's ligaments explode from all the steroids pumping through his system.
God help any team that either trades or signs this cheat.

I'm going to have to agree on the steroids thing with Holliday. He doesn't look like that without a little help from a bottle of meds or a needle. He's gotten quite a bit bigger since his first year with the Rockies. His head is larger too, just like Barry Bonds. I'd definetly say he's on something, and it's not Wheaties.

yes the Rockies are having a bad season, but the nice thing is so is the rest of the teams in the NL West. With a good push the Rockies could actually win the NL West and still make the playoffs.

that's a good cartoon Drew, but unlike the guy in the toon wearing a Broncos jersey during All Star Break I'll always be wearing a Rockies jersey, shirt or any other Rockies clothes along with my Rockies hat full of pins.

I agree with Kansascop, this year not only are the Rockies having a bad year but so is everyone else in the NL West, but unlike the NL West there's only one team I'll always love/root/support for all eternity & that's the Rockies.

The Rockies just swept Pittsburg and are now only 6 out of first. There is still a chance they could make the playoffs, we just need to have faith and keep cheering

Thank you Kansas for your upbeat take on the Rockies. I agree, a few win (who cares who they are against) and the team may have the conidence to roll over the NL west. Here's to hoping!!

You actually raise some good points, although I believe the actual analysis could very well be off base, first-rate piece of writing though, good luck. Julie
