There will be no Social Security program any longer. There will be no monthly check from the U.S. government for us. Reason: all that money has and will have been used up by continuing to fight this useless war and by continuing to give tax breaks to the rich. The baby-boomers have already tapped out the government. There will be no Medicare and Medicaid for Generation X.
  The Baby-Boomers are the generation that easily had it the best. Their generation fell in between the Depression and 9/11. Yeah, they had to deal with Vietnam, but really, they also partied and smoked dope and had "casual encounters" with whomever they pleased in the 60's.
  As a person in their late-30's, I'm pretty peeved with the fact that I'm going to faced with the burden of cleaning up after the party generation for the rest of my life, and so will the generations after us if we don't all kill ourselves first.

The Pirates haven't had a winning season in about 16 years, and the Rockies can't even match their record after sweeping them in a 4 game set. That's about as bad as it gets folks. It just cannot get more comical.

  I don't even care that Colorado is "only" 6 games back. If anyone really thinks the Rockies are going to catch either L.A. or Arizona, they've lost their mind. Once the Rockies are 10 games over .500 and are leading the division by 8-10 games....then and only then will Rockies fans have even the slightest reason to be half-excited. Of course, none of that's going to happen, so keep dreaming. Aaron Cook can't pitch every game, and the Rockies can't keep relying on thin air to carry balls out of every park they play in.

  WCH - I am so glad that, once again, a toon about the Nugs can turn in to a place for you to be a jerk about the Rockies. You are the perfect example of a horrible fan. Not only can you not come up with an intellegent comment about the posted toon but you find it enjoyable to, essentially, call any true fan of the Rockies stupid for being a fan. If the Rockies suck so bad then stop watching. Let the rest of us enjoy the good things about the Rockies. Last year the cards fall in to place, they get a little confidence (like getting a few easy wins) and all of sudden they ride a wave to the World Series.

  To the toon. What a way to equate the position we fans are in with the Nugs. The only decent players left on the team is the baby we want to dump most (Melo) or the man you play best when he's pissed (AI). What a great choice. At some point the Nugs are going to have to keep quality players (and half way decent people) and trim the chaff.

I'll say it - the Rockies will soon be 20-25 games under .500 after they start playing good teams again. This series against the Pirates proved nothing.

  What's with the attack on me? If you'd stop and take an actual look at the toon above, then you might actually notice that DREW himself brought up the subject of the 401K. So, I think you owe some kind of apology, or is that too much to ask?

  The point of blogs are to share opinions. I shared an opinion. If you don't like it, then that's your problem. If you want to comment on it in an adult way, then fine. Otherwise, you'd be better off keeping your words to yourself. You say this blog is for sports only. Well, what about the times where Drew brings up music, or other cartoonists that he admires, or things like that? Are you going to tell Drew to stop posting things that aren't sports related? I don't think so.

  A little reminder to you as well Dude. This still is a free country. At least for a while longer. Until I am officially told otherwise, you can count on me sharing my opinion here and a lot of other places. What gives you the right to tell anyone what they can say and what they cannot?

  Drew, my apologies for bringing to light real, true possibilites for the future of the United States. Just trying to be a good American. It's good to question the leaders of this nation. It's healthy. By questioning authority, it shows that we actually care. Unlike Dude (whom I can only quess is a slacker and a drain on society like the namesake Hollywood film character), there are people who are actually concerned about the state of their future as an Anmerican citizen. My guess is that Dude is a trust-fund baby who will for the rest of his life live off the work of others and will never do his part for the general society. That's quite sad really.

  I hope I'm wrong about you Dude. But I'm pretty certain that I'm dead on in my guess.

  You have no right whatsoever to go around telling people what to post or not post on a blog that isn't yours. This is the Rocky Mountain News. It's an online newspaper. I enjoyed Richard's take on the current state of affairs where the 401K and Social Security issues are concerned. If you didn't, then that's no one's problem but your own.
  The deal is that just because Drew focuses mainly on sports, that should not hinder people from broadening people's minds. If someone posts something that Drew or the Rocky Mountain News people think is inappropriate, then they'll delete it. It's not your decision Dude. So please do us all a favor and stop insisting that your the Win, Lose, or Drew Rent-A-Cop. It's not your place. Thank you in advance.

  First, Richard I don't know a single Boomer that has the money to retire on. They were promised Social Security and what they will get won't pay the mortgage or pay for food and gas. Get a little more informed, then comment. You want an adult apology, then I am sorry that you are easily offended.

  Second, Gregg you still live in America as do I which means that I have the right to my opinion just like you. I liked Richards take on the toon and the initial relavance to society as well. His attack on the boomers and the war may a have a point but I think the point of the toon was more about the state of the Nugs and where they are going than on other social observations. I don't think that I am the cop but I come to the site to, just like you, express my opinion on sports and the state of Denver's teams. Unrelated commentaries like those from WCH and his love for the Rockies detract from all of our enjoyment.

  My point on the last 4 or 5 toons is that, even though our teams are not great all of the time does not mean, we as fans, should turn our backs on them. The Nugs, even with their problem, are better now than ever. The Broncos are one of the most consistant teams in the NFL, no not the best but still pretty good and worth backing. The Rockies had a wonderful season last year and by the luck of being in the NL west they still have an outside chance of a post season.

  Some of us here find WCH funny. All he's doing is ripping on athletes. It's not like anyone here knows any of these athletes personally. None of these players read this blog. And even if they did, do you really think they would care?
  Look, Troy Tulowitzki is hitting below .200, so if I say he sucks, does that really make me wrong? He's sucking at the plate and at shortstop. Clint Barmes has clearly outperformed Tulo, so shouldn't Barmes have the starting nod while Tulo works out his troubles with the SkySox? Barmes lost his job years ago and went down and worked and worked. It obviously paid off.
  Tulo should be forced to do the same. He should have to earn his job back. Apparently Tulo gets a free pass, which is unfair.
