Rockies fans: How to survive the rest of the Season

DREW0701.gif

The Rockies season has gone so far south we all need to start looking for ice bergs. Which, I'm pretty sure, the Rockies hit on the way to the season opener. None of us would have guessed a season with such promise would turn into such a nightmare. Now we are all facing the month of July with little to look forward to but Broncos camp. Which, unfortunately, might turn out to be worse.

The Rockies are in a total FREE FALL. It's easy to like Clint Hurdle as a person--due to his involvement in charity and his easy-going personality, but as the manager I think his time has come and gone; players just aren't responding to him and his style. The same is true with O'Dowd. If the Monfort's want to save what support is left for this team, they have to do something. With Hurdle, I wonder if the Rockies would wait until after the All-Star game to let him go if that's a consideration. That might be a little less embarrassing than before--and having to get a new NL manager.

Definitely a lot more questions than answers at this point...

    You know, it's funny.

Where are all of the Rockies defenders now? Where are all of those fairweather, bandwagon fans who kept saying last year wasn't a fluke?

OF COURSE IT WAS A FLUKE!!!

AND MATT HOLLIDAY STILL HAS NOT TOUCHED HOME PLATE!!!!

YA GOTTA LOVE THE ROCKIES BLOWING AN 8-3 LEAD AND LOSING 15-8. AWESOME. JUST AWESOME!!!

    HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!
    HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAA!!!

by the way, I agree with kd. Hurdle is a great human being but he lacks passion as a manager. And his managing of pitchers...P U!

    Yeah Russ,

Only an eight-year old would do something like hitting the "SUBMIT" button TWICE, eh?

I'll be the one laughing when Holliday, Hawpe, Atkins, and company are gone, and you're stuck with Helton and his $56 Million contract and his .260 average, as well as Tulowitzki and his .150-some average. Oh, and also a roster of pitchers who belong in A-ball. Yeah. That's just awesome. Prepare yourself for a series of 100-loss seasons.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!

fess us and deal with the fact that the rockies are a crappy team and all of us in colorado are never going to hear the end of it. it's one thing if the rockies had at least been a few games over .500 after getting to the world series last year, but they flat out suck. there is not excuse for their record, and there's not excuse for anyone to continue to root for this team any longer. at least not until the owners get off their asses and sell the team to someone else. i am completely embarrassed by this team from the owners right down to the bat boys.
really, what do you people expect? the rockies are a laughing stock and with good reason. until the owners of the team decide to sell, there's no way people are going to support the rockies. the monforts screwed the fans last year. do you really think that people are going to be fooled again?
wch has every right to bash on the team. they've shown zero fight this entire season. they don't deserve any respect whatsoever. until this team gets off its ass and plays hard and earns their paychecks, then i'm going to agree with anyone and everyone who bashes the rockies.
they are a flat out embarrassment. anyone who actually defends such a team is a complete fool.

"How can anybody root for this team?" Its not hard to root for a team when you are a true fan. Being a true fan means wearing the colors in 100 win seasons as well as 100 lose seasons. Anybody who says they are a Rockies fan but they can't support a team like this, is not and never will be a true fan.

Tessie is the Royal Rooters rally cry
Tessie is the tune they always sung

Tessie is a maiden with a love

She's got a comment full of love
And sometimes when the game is on the line
    Tessie always carried them away
Up the road from third base to Huntington
The boys will always sing and sway

    Two! Three! Four!

    Tessie, Nuff Said McGreevey shouted
We're not here to mess around
Boston, you know we love you madly
Hear the crowd roar to your sound
Don't blame us if we ever doubt you
You know we couldn't live without you
Tessie, you are the only only only

The Rooters showed up at the grounds one day
They found their seats had all been sold
McGreevey led the charge into the park
Stormed the gates and put the game on hold
The Rooters gave the other team a dreadful fright
Boston's tenth man could not be wrong
Up from third base to Huntington
    They'd sing another victory song

I am a Cubs fan first and a Rockies fan second. Both teams have special places in my heart, and needless to say I've endured my fair share of suffering. I'll keep on enduring though because I'm a fan through and through.

Last year was one heck of a run for the Rox, and now this year we're back to our old ways. I'll just keep wearing my 2007 NL Champs shirt and hope for better luck in future years.

As for the Cubbies, I'll just keep on praying. Who knows, maybe this is our year (and maybe a comet will land in Wrigley Field; I see both as equal possibilities).

    18-17?

    Right. Only at Coors Field.

What a sad excuse for a Pro sports franchise. Live by the home run, die by the home run. But only at high altitude. And the Flukes have no pitching. Zero.
This is the only franchise in Pro sports that has to rely on altitude to win games.

There isn't one thing to be proud of by winning a baseball game 18-17. It's just disgusting baseball. The Flukes couldn't hit situationally if God himself came down and batted for them. All they do is rely on home runs at Coors Field at altitude.

    Absolutely disgusting.

Visiting teams do not get the same balls to hit as the Rockies do. There are actually two different humidors are Coors field, and they are set at two different levels. One setting for the Rockies and one for the opponents. There's actually little wonder why the Rockies were able to jack out home run after home run on the 4th of July with a sellout crowd in attendance. Especially when they had to come back from a large deficit. The team doesn't use the juiced balls all the time, but they do use them when it's necessary. Because of this, it's no wonder why the Rockies home record is always far better than their home record.

    6.5 games out and counting...
