Broncos Defense: Missing Pieces

DREW011709.gif

A Few Missing Parts
Mike Nolan, the Broncos new defensive coordinator will have his work cut out for him. There are a lot missing parts in the Broncos defense, one of the worst in the NFL. It's going to take more than a few draft picks to get it put together. Overall the Broncos have got to stop the constant turmoil on the defensive side of the ball.

The biggest things the Donkeys are missing is a real head coach and a real winning quarterback. The team will go nowhere with McDaniels and Cutler. Yeah, the defense sucks, but Cutler is a bigger problem.

It is being reported that Julius Pepepers wants out of Carolina and wants to play in a 3-4 defense. The Broncos could have had Peppers at a discount last season, but didn't make the move. He is 29 so you would think he has 2-4 years left. A rotation of Peppers and Elvis would be good for 15+ sacks easy. Anyone remember when we had a pass rush?

There is no way Peppers will play in Denver, no matter how much money Bowlen throws at him. He'll want to play for a winner/team on the rise, not a team like the Broncos that is going nowhere fast.
Peppers will end up going to New England, Indy, San Diego or Tennessee.
Why do Bronco fans think that just because a guy is a free agent or wants out of his current contract, that he'll just automatically want to sign with or be traded to Denver? It's unreal. It's like Denver fans actually believe that the best players only want to come to Denver. If that's the case, then name the last bigtime player who signed with or demanded a trade to Denver? Can you?
Yeah, me neither. (By the way - Champ Bailey never asked to be traded to Denver is that's what you're thinking.)

I love all these nay sayers. Yeah the Broncos tanked it, but they had so many injuries at key positions this last season that its tough to know how this team will do this year. We need Haynesworth more than we need peppers.

I totally agree, Denver's D has been lack luster for years now! I think the decline started the moment shanahan got rid of trevor price. also i was a big cutler fan when he first started as our first string. but the more i see him play i don't like what i see. he does not play with passion in my opinion. i think he'll break a season record for most interceptions in a year or career.

I think the reason we haven't had marque players is because of shanahan's zero tolerance for cry baby, over paid, attention whore players. Denver never wants to eat millions of dollars for high risk players. That's why Denver has been a solid team for years. Also since Shanahan was both GM and coach, budget had a lot to do with it. c'mon denver is pretty frugal when it comes to spending money on players. c'mon, San Diego was horrible when LT showed up. The raiders are worse and they always shoot for top players.

Denvers has to be one of the best football teams to play for. our home record and winning streaks show it. someone should do their research.

please cutler set single season record this year as a 3rd year starter...most of the presssure was on the offense this year to win...your out of touch a little Jimmy Jam..maybe hiring an offensive guru was wrong but if they solidify the defense we are set L.T. may be out of S.D and Chiefs have struggled lately...improve the D through free agency...they are not that far off..keeping in tact the offensive line scheme and getting Ryan Torian and Aldridge back things are lot brighter than the pessimistic fans say...seems that some of these people should put there names as it should be bandwagoners..and some views are just plan stupid...wink wink..

Peppers would be a great addition to the 3-4 defense we are going to run. Also switching to the 3-4 will benefit Jarvis Moss, his physique and athletic ability will make him a great OLB in the 3-4. Imagine having Peppers on one side, Dumervil on the other with Moss coming in to spell those guys until he breaks through. Dwayne Robertson can plug the middle while Ebenezer Ekuban holds down DE position. What we need is a MLB to go with D.J. Williams in the middle, a FS with range (too bad Taylor Mays stayed in school, and another cornerback, Dre Bly is way overrated!!!. Get another DE around 6'5" 290 ish to hold down the other side. Drafting Beanie Wells with the 12th pick would just be icing on the cake.

Torain and Aldrige wouldn't even make the practive squad on most other NFL teams. They're scrubs.

Cutler is finished, now that his Daddy (Jeremy Bates) and his Uncle (Shanahan) are gone.

I have never seen people who have no sense and just rip people without any type of proof. Jay Cutler was voted to the pro bowl. If he is so bad as you all claim, then how did we finish 8-8 when we had a defense on the field for "maybe" 3 games this year.

Cutler didn't deserve the Pro Bowl even though he was, ahem...voted in.

    And big deal.

Rivers made it to the playoffs and played in 2 more postseason games. The last one without much of a running game against the team that is going to win the Super Bowl. The Chargers also had to overcome the NFL giving a game to the Broncos.

I'd say that Rivers could care less about going to the Pro Bowl. It's nothing more than an overhyped, boring game anyway. About exciting as the NHL and NBA All-Star games.

Don't you just love it when Charger fans come on here and try to bash us Bronco fans. I mean what do they have to brag about??!! They were favored to win the Super Bowl this year and the last couple of years were supposed to be in contention for it. And what have they got to show for it?? Absolutely NOTHING!!!!!!! Oh they lost Steroidman(Merriman)for the year to injury.(Maybe because he was off the juice!!!) And then they still cry about the game that the refs supposedly gave to the Broncos even though they still had 2 chances to stop the Broncos from scoring but couldn't do it!! And then they want to brag about how they won the division. Not hard to do with admittingly the worst defense in the league. But with that worst defense we have Cutler and he gave us a chance to win in most of those games. It's pretty hard to win games when your running backs keep getting hurt. And then to the Charger fans don't even have the *alls to use their name they got to use anonymous!! give me a break go away Charger fans!!!! GO BRONCOS!!!!
