Democratic convention
Tuesday, January 23 at 2:47 PM

After reading the short, but ridiculous rant from Robert A. Ritthaler, I felt I had to respond. His type of ignorance must be exposed for the farce that it is. He claims that Denver will be safe from Al Qaeda during the two weeks that the Democratic National Convention is happening in Denver. Like ost of the frothing, hate-filled Right wingnuts, Ritthaler neglects to mention that Al Qaeda had no real presence in Iraq until George W. Bush decided to invade under false pretenses and that the United States is LESS safe because of this.
Another fact that Ritthaler conveniently leaves out of his little rant is that there are more terrorists recruits for Al Qaeda now whose objective is to destroy America than any time before the invasion of Iraq. If Ritthaler bothered to read a newspaper besides the News or watch a news channel besides Fox News, he would also see that several Democratic congress people are proposing to redeploy some of the Iraq troops to Afghanistan, where Taliban attacks have dramatically incresed and the original terrorist threat to our country, that fellow named Bin Laden, is still running free. So, in closing, Mr. Ritthaler should be honest and blame the current administration for increasing the terrorist threat to this country, instead of hurling childish little freshman diatribes at the Democrats, who never were responsible for the threat to our country.

Would I be assuming too much if i said that you must go to CU Boulder? Nice rant in return to a rant, I'll give you that. I happen to like persuasive writing over rants, but I guess that's just my taste. Maybe you are a big Molly Ivins fan or something. The last sentence of your rant says that "...the Democrats, who never were responsible for the threat to our country." While you don't identify what THE threat is, I am going to assume you mean the threat of terrorist attacks. Funny, it seems to me that there were not one or two or three but actually four terrorist attacks during our last Democratic administration. It's always amusing when a extreme rightist and extreme leftist get into a war of words without realizing that they represent two sides of the same coin. The Republocrats hold a death grip on our political system which prevents fresh ideas from entering our system and helping it improve. If my tax dollars are going to pay for televised presidential debates, I want to hear from more sources than two old, rich white men. I hear again and again that seemingly old adage about third parties being a wasted vote, but this logic ignores the fact that the Abe Lincoln won his presidency as a third party Republican, and anyone who doesn't think that Ross Perot affected Bush Sr. 's attempt to run for a second term is a nut. Under our current system, I can either vote for a party that seems almost indistinguishable from its major rival in terms of its ability to waste my tax dollars on unrealistic projects, or vote for a candidate that I feel is much better qualified with the knowledge that a large proportion of Americans agree with the above adage. Those are two absolutely fantastic choices, I can't wait for '08 to roll around. It'll be right around the time that pigs are genetically modified to fly that a qualified third party candidate takes on the system and wins. Maybe at the same time CU will elect someone smart enough to move the school's headquarters to one of the other campuses so that in time CU will be associated with good things, such as the efforts of the Health Sciences Center to transform Denver into a biotechnology leader, and not associated with bad things, such as the extremist liberalism of Churchhill and Hatchett.

Wow, a rant against a rant against a rant!
Should I, like, shout "bingo" or something?

Yes, you should.
