We have a group of legislators who insist on passing this feel good legislation that infringes on our rights. Ken Gordon the clown prince of the Colorado state senate has co sponsored a bill to eliminate smoking in casino venues. Gordon who ran a dismal campaign for secretary of state apparently wants to leave a legacy. His campaign incidentally was not taken seriously by many.
Having spent eighteen years working in an Atlantic City casino I can tell you, you will lose a lot of casino business if Gordon’s bill passes. I quit smoking cigarettes forty years ago, I do enjoy an occasional cigar. Should this legislation pass I will not enter a Colorado casino. If the smoke bothers some employees then I suggest they seek other employment.
I ask you what is next, the thought police and double speak as in Orwell’s 1984? Wake up folks the Patriot Act protects us from terrorists. All of this feel good legislation is designed to protect us from ourselves, how funny is that?

Not funny at all Ed, but then we kill ourselves off at a rate of 50,000 per year in traffic accidents and more than double that each for eating wrong and smoking.
So you tell me why we can spend 500 Billion dollars on terrorism that has cost less lives in the past 100 years than what we do to ourselves in a single month of driving, eating, smoking, and medical accidents.
I would think that getting the HPV shot is a no brainer, considering how nasty ovarian cancer is, but then I would also think that not smoking is too.
Maybe we really shouldn't care how many people die, maybe we should just give up on road safety, medicine quality, and let the dice fall where they may. Get cancer, hey tough break, road unsafe - suck it up, wrong leg amputated, hey go cry to yo momma.
My take is that if casino business requires thousands of people to die from cancer maybe its a bad business, but then who the heck am I to say this is wrong.
Let them die, its a free country, why not increase the nicotene levels while we are at it.
Who cares, right?
