In her letter of Dec. 19, “Making ICE raids a race issue is offensive,” Lori Woods likened the United States to a sinking ship. What she should remember is that the people who were detained by ICE agents at various Swift meatpacking plants in December are the very same people down on the bowels of the ship running the bilge pumps, trying to keep the ship afloat.
Out of the hundreds who were arrested in Greeley, ICE had warrants for 25 people specifically and not even that many were stealing the identities of hard-working Americans.
Granted, those detained were apparently breaking the law. However, who would not do the same to feed their family if it means sneaking across the border and working in the shadows for lower wages?
Mexican immigrants are not the terrorists. They are not holding guns or making bombs. The majority are just hard-working people trying to feed their families.

Not holding guns, lets ask Denver Police Officers if it was an illegal who shot two of their officers in the back and killed one and then fled back across the border like a coward.

So by using the same logic, would you excuse a legal resident from shoplifting at King Sooper as long as it was "to feed their family?"

If illegal aliens are likened to those running the bilge pumps from the bowel of a ship, in order to keep it afloat, then the American citizens who are unemployed must be the ships paying passengers who have been thrown overboard by the ships captain in order to help it make a profit.

Conservative estimates put the number of illegal Mexicans who are also some type of sex criminals in the USA at somewhere around 250,000. The number of illegal Mexicans currently in US prisons is in the 100s of 1000s too. The Denver cop shot dead has already been mentioned. The number of murdered American citizens at the hands of illegal Mexicans is also staggering. Drunk driving deaths attributed to illegal Mexicans is also incredibly high. Drugs, gangs, human trafficing, armed incursion along the border. Depressed wages for all low skilled jobs, a drain on the national resources in healthcare, criminal justuce, and education. And a "balkanization" of America by creating a separate and dictinct class and race of people who have no desire to be American and no loyalty to America. To them, America is just a paycheck to send back to "home".

Illegal Mexicans = Corporate welfare.

If the illegals are "keeping the ship afloat" I would rather see the boat sink. It sickens me to see the destruction the illegals are causing this country. It sickens me to see our politicians not take any action to stop the invasion and it sickens me that our so-called President doesn't protect our borders.
