Schultheis goes too far
As a Republican, I believe that Democrats must give thanks every night for state Sen. David Schultheis. He is “Exhibit A” for those who associate conservatism with bigotry and meanness of spirit.
It was bad enough that he sent an open letter to a family that had just lost children, questioning whether they were in this country illegally. But now he’s outdone himself.
His criticism of Gov. Bill Ritter’s goal of reducing the dropout rate for minority children — because of a supposed impact on illegal immigration — defies rationality.
Colorado needs to address illegal immigration, but also needs to find ways to give minority children a better chance in life.
If Schultheis is typical of Colorado Republicans, then the Republican Party will deservedly remain the minority party.

I foolishly used to believe that the Republicans promoted the idea of conservative spending. Unfortunately, all thats left in America are liberals and Neo-libs(Republicans).

I simply reminded him that had sworn an oath to "uphold and defend the constitution..without reservations or purpose of evasion" inlcuding the 14th Amendment which guarantees equal protection from discrimination.
I received a very terse reply from him stating that he essentially didn't give a damn about the 14th Amendment and that he was going to say and do whatever he wanted because he the license to do so becasue hewas overwhelminging re-elected by his constituents.
I'm a proud left-leaning independent who votes my conscience and humanity more than my pocketbook and I know there are good and decent republicans out there. Ford, Goldwater, Olympia Snowe and
Susan Colins...all come to mind.
But Schultheis is an egomaniacl extremist who doesn't beleive he's accountable for anything he says or does as long as they keep voting him into office.

Posted by on January 30, 2007 01:02 PMIf only we had a few more people like Schulthies, we could restart a eugenics problem. Maybe some don't like the idea of a master race, but it's about damn time we had one.
