Molly Bloom
Leroy M. Martinez of Denver writes:

Probably didn't want all the negative publicity that would come up when people found out there were underage drinkers in the limo.
Posted by on February 27, 2007 03:20 PMFor the gutless wonder who posted a reply without a name - perhaps there were underage drinkers using the limo (to the best of my knowledge, the passengers weren't tested - because they weren't driving)- however, they were doing the responsible thing by using a limo & not driving themselves. Are you saying that this young woman should have lost a leg if she or anyone in her party was drinking - to a driver who had a record which precluded him being around children (by definition someone under 18). Or are you just indulging in one of this country's favorite pastimes - "Blame the Victim"?
Posted by Mary on February 28, 2007 04:45 AMI also agree that Ms Bloom has shown strenghth and character for a person of her age after such a horrendous experience and I wish her all the best.
The one problem I have had with these kids renting all those expensive limos and the other extravagances that go along with these school proms nowadays. I don't know if there was under age drinking going on in her group but it does seem to be part of over indulges that these kids are into these days.
What ever happened to just picking up your date in your own car with maybe two other couples and driving to your school for the prom? Usually the punch was spiked and certain kids would sneak in bottles of booze.
The majority of the kids would not indulge and the guy or driver would get his date and friends home safely. Now they ride around in the limo getting loaded and arrive half drunk at the prom. I think this is an issue parents should look into and maybe stop giving in to these indulgances.
Posted by Mr Reality on February 28, 2007 08:37 AMSince Mr. Reality and an unnamed person think this post was about the drinking habits of teenagers today, it is appropriate to repeat the letter from Leroy Martinez so that people will know that this is about Molly Bloom and the courage she has shown:
"Molly Bloom is a courageous you woman. To OK a plea bargain and not hold a grudge is remarkable. I for one could not forgive a person for a long time that has caused part of my hip and leg to be gone."
If you want to talk about the drinking or other habits of teenagers, you should have the good sense to do so elsewhere rather than to dilute the tribute to Molly Bloom.
