Paul Campos

Keith Maranville of Aurora writes:

In response to Paul Compos’ editorial “The rights Ward Churchill". He states that Iraq had nonexistent weapons of mass destruction. It is sickening to see a man with an editorial column so ignorant about world events. I say we ask the Kurds and Iranians who were both gassed by WMD’s by Saddam. That is a proven fact Mr. Campos. And I would pose this question to Mr. Campos.. Saddam Hussein put live people in plastic shredders (again proven fact),do you really think he gassed the Kurds and thought to himself “wow, I didn’t mean to kill that many, I think we will throw away the rest of the gas.”
It is this very head in the sand mentality that will someday will have Hitler the 2nd sitting in some third world country with the capability to destroy us all. So please check your history before spewing the Democratic line of no WMD’s Mr. Campos.

Also a proven fact regarding the gassing of the Kurds: the US along with France, Germany and Russia provided the funding and material assistance to acquire the gas. The republican adminstration of the time also quashes a resolution condemning the gassing. And Hitler 2 is already reigning...in the Whitehouse.

Bocephus, who attacked New York City on 9/11? Was it Sadam or was it Bin Laden? And why has this President stopped the search for the culprit? Remember, a fact, we had Bin Laden surrounded in Afganistan on three sides, allowing him to escape to Pakistan. How hard is it to find a 6 foot tall Arab who needs dialysis? Who supports the troops? Bush and Co. slashed the V.A. budget in Feb. 2005. Don't give me your lies about WMD and how Campos is full of it, take a look at what has actually been happening and then we'll talk.

Hitler 2? Are you out of your freaking mind? Bush might have some misguided policies. He might have us stuck in an unwinable war. But he is not Hitler. The hyperbole that much of the far left finds themselves stuck in is amazing.

Has Bush interned persons, caused them to slave away in death camps, and then gassed them? Does Bush allow doctors to conduct cruel experiments on prisoners? The answer is no.

He has lead his country into two wars, against to nations, with the backing of Congress. Congress might now regret their decision to have granted their approval for the latter invasion, but they have the power to pull the plug. They are just too ball-less to take action. Instead, they sit around and debate and vote on non-binding resolutions. If Democrats feel so passionate about pulling out of Iraq, they ought to pass a binding resolution that pulls the plug on funding, that redeploys troops.

The hubris, self-assurance of the left is amazing. If they think they've got the answer, why don't they do anything to implement better policy? The answer is they haven't a clue as to what policy they should implement. They are a bunch of muckrackers that only care about taking pot-shots at the President. They are spineless and ball-less.

OLB - please re-read the letter. The author didn't say Bush was Hitler the 2nd, but that Bush's policies could spawn one. And - if you want to talk about "hubris, self-assurance" how about a President who started asking as early as Feb/Mar 2001 how to go to war with Iraq, who ignored bipartisan commissions reports presented to him in March & May of 2001 that forecast the possibility of a 9/11 attach (saying that "Cheney would look into it), and ignored FBI & CIA reports in August, 2001 that terrorists were planning something on US soil - but hey - let's blame the Dems for this mess.

As far as Hussein - yes - he was a bad, terrible, horrible human being, who massacred his own countrymen (most specifically the Kurds, who many of both Sunnis & Shiites in Iraq seem to see as less than human). Unfortunately for all of us, he was also one of the few men who could also keep Iraq from erupting into the civil war that the US invasion has spawned - which is probably why his father didn't go any further after Desert Storm. Now we are stuck until this country gets over its 'addiction to oil' - which won't happen while an oilman (who talks out of both sides of his mouth about the problem - giving major tax breaks to the oil companies without for instance tying those breaks to research in alternative energy sources) is running the country.

Anyone who thinks this war was such a terrific idea should enlist, should encourage his/her children to enlist, should encourage his/her extended family members to enlist or should contact his/her representatives to reinstate the draft (this time for both males & females) so that EVERYONE stands to lose someone in this fiasco - not to mention the one that our cowboy president seems to be gearing up for against Iran.

If you are in the vast majority in this country & believe this was a huge mistake, contact your representatives in Congress and let them know you want a solution (and if you have any ideas, tell them) - SOON, preferably something not at the expense of the members of the military. Send an email, send a letter, make a call and stop the partisan garbage.

Hey flhtcui91? in case you couldn't tell, I was being a little sarcastic

Posted by Bocephus on February 28, 2007 07:25 AM

Of course Iraq had WMDs--a few decades ago we gave the WMDs to them! They were just smart enough to get rid of them before we came in. And if they in fact did have Clorox, I bet it was still a full bottle. What's ironic is that when we went into Iraq, there was no link between Iraq and the Taliban, but since we've been there, what do you know, they've struck up a working friendship! Nice work accomplishing that mission!

"Has Bush interned persons, caused them to slave away in death camps, and then gassed them? Does Bush allow doctors to conduct cruel experiments on prisoners?"

A. Yes (Guantanomo),
A. Yes - Many prisoners have been brutally kiiled by US forces while in custody since the invasion (Adu Grahib)
A. Probably, but he'll never tell.

All I know is citizens of the Ukraine have clearner elections than US citizens. Citizens of South Africa have more civil liberties. Bush may not be Hitler but...he may be worse.

Our government creates the monster and then justifies going after him, see Bin Laden, Hussein, Iran etc....

"Bush may not be Hitler but...he may be worse." This is probably the dumbest thing I have read in a long time.
