Two governments
Despite this “Democratic” Congress, despite massive protests, there’s a hidden government still going full-steam with its own private agenda - corporate empire, military dominion, flouting the Constitution, fleecing America, a boom in next year’s Pentagon arms trades ($560 billion), stock gains of 30-40% for Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and General Dynamics, record sales of “discounted” weapons to small unstable countries, the suppression of information, etc. If one simply looks past the (corporate-owned) networks he sees the frightening truth.
Bush has also just signed the “Insurrection Act” allowing him to order the National Guard or military into any state in case of government revolt (“opposed” by all 50 governors) proving just how much he fears the first amendment.
The NSA is also conducting massive data-mining programs - fitting everyone into files called “biometric identifiers” and “identity cards”
Phone companies, airlines, universities, and employers are now selling (or handing over) information to the NSA on everyone.
Informed critics say we have “two years left” to save this country. It’s time for the impeachment movement to rally. It’s time to get mad and sign on. It’s time to fire, indict, convict, and save America. That’s being patriotic!

Tin foil alert!
Posted by Ann on February 28, 2007 02:32 PMAnn, you might reach different conclusions than the writer here, but much of what is stated is fact.
Why the comment about tin foil hats? Ad hominem?
Posted by flimflam on February 28, 2007 02:46 PMNot only is all that true, but Bush and his cronies have also conspired to keep the Rockies down the last last 7 years. The Rockies won 82 games in 2000, the year Bush took over. Since then, they're highest win total was last year's 76. Coincidence?
Posted by on February 28, 2007 02:47 PMI hate almost all anonymous posts, but here is an exception that proves the rule (if only because it's so funny). GO ROCKIES!!!!!!!

Posted by flimflam on February 28, 2007 03:00 PM"Tin foil alert" is a Limbaughism, what Stupidlicans fling when threatened. They will defend their so-called "President" to the death, no matter what he does. Their teacher, Rush, has trained them to ignore all facts and to react mindlessly with a list of prepared epithets.
"The Course" that we are staying is the short way to disaster. Our enemies grow stronger by the minute, while the maniac-in-charge fuels the fire. Bush's messianic delusions are ignored by the Rush-Worshippers, and no amount of reality can shake them from their cynical dream world.
What we are doing in Iraq is NOT fighting "terror," it's feeding Islamic Jihad. Criminal morons have been running the country since 2000, and they have to be stopped if we love this country. Their few remaining supporters are criminal in their ignorance.
It IS time to "cut and run," time to cut through "Republican" lies, and time to run them out of office.
Posted by THX 1138 on February 28, 2007 03:10 PMTHX 1138, If we cut and run, will the Islamic Jihadists decide they no longer want to kill us? If not, what do we (Western civilization) need to do so that they stop lobbing bombs on anything non-Islamic?
Posted by SOYDAVE on February 28, 2007 03:42 PMBut, wait, the Demoscats are backing away from slashing Bush's funds for Iraq. What next ??? Watch the mealy mouthed, weak kneed dummys "go to work" with their tax raises and government handout programs. Dems are also Pro-illegal alien. Pro-Amnesty!! Hiatt is right about getting rid of corrupt politicians. I say go through the ranks of BOTH parties and start cleaning house !! Vote independent!!!! Democrats suck and republicans suck!!!!!!!!
Posted by T on February 28, 2007 03:51 PMSoyDave, The Muslims won't have to lob bombs on "Western civilization" huge numbers of Muslims are occupying every country on this planet. Their Qur'an directs them to kill all peoples who will not convert to Islam. How many mosques were here in Colorado in the mid-eighties?? Look up the Muslim population growth city by city for the US.
Hiatt writes about two governments......
Well...try this government on for size:
Qur'an:8:39 "Fight them until all opposition ends and ALL submit to Allah."
Qur'an:839 "So fight them until there is no more Fitnah( disbelief non-Muslims) and all submit to the religion alone (In the whole world!!)
A, are you aware of the Christian history of forced conversion and conquest? Have you read the old testament, do you know some of the things being said in there?
Posted by flimflam on February 28, 2007 04:36 PMSOYDAVE you really need to reread the comments by THX 1138. They did not say cut and run from Iraq. Pay attention and not be so quick to condemn. Makes you look foolish
Posted by Ron on February 28, 2007 04:52 PMRon that is the mode on here is to Condemn without truths. Again stating that there were lies associated with WMD or implications thereof. I think it was you who questioned me on another area regarding the WMDs found, while not the ##s nor the quality. Go to Google and search for chemical weapons found in Iraq. Now can we cut that out of the lies?
Although I have heartburn over anything the Govt does especially with NSA.........
If they did not then I have no doubt there would be more american deaths here.
This is not much different than the late 30's and americas resolve of not going after Hitler.....approx 90% against. If not for Roosevelt and his groups going around and through existing laws at the time, I am not sure we would not have had a completely different and less rosy outcome of WW2. Not saying that the Admin is right.........just questioning the thought of .....What if they are??
There are always two governments in the US.
The government as it operates and the government as it would operate if only I were running things.
Probably a good thing on the whole.
Posted by Jim J on February 28, 2007 06:02 PMHey Flimflam... we grew out of it. The Muslims are regressing.
Posted by on February 28, 2007 06:27 PMHey anonymous 6:27 PM,
The Muslims are not regressing; they never had a Renaissance and Reformation, Enlightenment, or Post-Enlightment period. Therefore, they have not had growing period to regress from. This may have something to do with the fact that the Muslim calendar is in the 1300's. Where were we (in Western civilization) in 1300-1400 A.D.? In a place to grow out of, if I recall (Witch hunts and Spanish Inquisition mean anything to you? And no, I don't care that the Inquisition started the year that Columbus began his initial trip to the New World. If anything, that even further proves my point). There is no Muslim regression, since they have had no comparable progress culturally speaking compared to the West.
And Jim J, That is a very good thing, since in a democracy the result of governance is an eventual compromise between the normative values of partisan hacks as well as the varying normative values of center-left/-right moderate thinkers. It is this middle-ground, rightfully agreed-upon, that makes democracy the best governmental system compared to everything we've tried before (with gratituous apologies to the great Prime Minister Churchill).
Posted by M 242 on February 28, 2007 09:07 PMhowever, m 242, the muslims were at one time much more scientifically advanced... until one of their clerics declared science and the questioning of the natural world to be haram. This was shortly after the crusades, I think.
So, I stand corrected vis a vis the Renaissance and the Enlightenment but...
Posted by on February 28, 2007 11:29 PMOh, but anonymous,
So were the Greeks and their algebra and geometry, until the poison of the (bastard) 'Apostle' Paul. The West lost the edge on mathematics that the Greeks personified when the Dark Ages took hold. They lost the power of accumulated knowledge right when religious fundamentalism started to consolidate power. So, what is the difference? The Muslim civilization is simply in an earlier state that our Western one is. There needs to be time for that culture to develop on its own merits, not ours.
Posted by M 242 on February 28, 2007 11:50 PMSorry Dude, the Greeks were taken down by the Romans, who were then defeated soundly by the Barbarians. The barbarians, sadly, were not Christian, although many of their line did eventually convert. The Renaissance and the Enlightenment were Christian developments.
Posted by on February 28, 2007 11:57 PMThe Renaissance, particularly in England, came about because people were trying to understand God through science. To do that, you must question things, which leads to doubt and Protestantism. Questioning Allah in Islam leads to a death sentence.
Posted by on March 1, 2007 12:00 AMOr, how bout this; If you want them to develop on their own, let's apply a kind of prime directive. Anybody who believes that women are property and should be put to death if they are raped are not allowed to have electricity or indoor plumbing.
Posted by on March 1, 2007 12:09 AMI got a kick out of this one:
"I hate almost all anonymous posts".
Signed M 242.
Posted by on March 1, 2007 07:03 AMAll of these posts are anonymous! Unless you leave a phone number!
Posted by on March 1, 2007 07:20 AMKeep posting anonymous!! I like your style!!!!
Especially your great sense of humor!!
Posted by Mimi on March 1, 2007 08:22 AM"Anybody who believes that women are property and should be put to death if they are raped are not allowed to have electricity or indoor plumbing."
Im not sure what you are arguing here, but this is not unique to Islam. You can find christian, hindu, etc believers who are misogynist, in fact there are plenty of people in this country whom for all practical purposes see women as property
Posted by flimflam on March 1, 2007 09:01 AMwhich is why, flimflam, I didn't just limit it to muslims.
Posted by on March 1, 2007 09:15 AMAnonymous, do you know the definition of the word? It has exactly nothing to do with a phone number. It refers to one without a NAME, not phone number. You don't post even with a handle, meaning you have no NAME, and who cares what your or my phone number is? Until you use a NAME or handle, your posts are ANONYMOUS, you bloody dolt.
And Mimi, stupidity is not a style, it's an affliction. Unless you are also one of those Anna Nicole Smith-worshippers, in which case maybe it can be considered a style.
Posted by M 242 on March 1, 2007 10:00 AMOkay, there is more than one person posting anonymously on this board. The person with style is not the one who posted about the phone number.
Some people may have a reason for remaining anonymous on public message boards... say, fear for their job or a grade in a class.
Posted by on March 1, 2007 11:23 AMM242, btw the word should have clued you but algebra is Arabic, not Greek.
Al-gebra, yes?
Ann, I reckon you are a bit of a tin-foiler yourself.
The increasing degree of government and corporate surveillance of people has been written about and analyzed for years by people in the information sciences, and really isn’t anything new.
In the industry we have also noted that increasingly the two have combined and that government now often outsources collection and surveillance to private groups (including banks, telcos, and isps) and amalgamates data from collection agencies, retail outlets, isps, and banks, amongst others.
Not only is this data being gathered and sifted and correlated, but “risk scores” are generated which drive action and further surveillance. One of these actions is for example how “no-fly” and “coverage waiver” lists are made. Once on a no-fly list, it is almost impossible to challenge and reverse, and you could wind up also paying more for loans and insurance and not even know it.
You may write this off as “tin-foil hat” stuff, but those of us in the information industry are actually a bit troubled by what is going on and many of us think it doesn’t even work, let alone what it means in terms of privacy and rights.
Posted by on March 1, 2007 01:00 PMWhen is the government gonna release its gravity field technology form area 51? thats what you should all be asking yourselves.
