Border must be closed
Right on, the fate of the nation depends on it. Millions of third world mexicans are destroying every piece of society! It has to stop!
Posted by Jon on March 31, 2007 09:47 AMThis letter makes me laugh. It is hard to believe anyone can consider "closing" the border as a practical "solution", but there you have it folks. What a hoot.
Posted by hikingartist on March 31, 2007 11:16 AMdid you know in the last 12 years, our border militarization has lead to over 4,000 deaths which is 15 times more than all the lives claimed by the Berlin wall in its 28 year existence?
Posted by bri on March 31, 2007 11:31 AMI agree, but I think it is a namby-pampy approach...I think we ought to set up 50 caliber "deterrents" every 100 yards and build that wall that Mr Tancredo wants, but strengthen it with land mines and razor wire.....Wait....the Russians already tried that in Berlin.Didn't work
How about enforcing the existing laws against employers who hire them? Oh, wait Reagan stopped doing that when he was in charge, and it's those same guys who paid for the Contract on America guys to win. (Read Wal-Mart and Home Depot and Mr.& Mrs. conservative Jones who want a cheap nanny and gardener.)
Also, check it out, more kids are dying from what they find in Mom & Dads medicine cabinet than what comes over the border. (Look it up!)
You're right hikingartist...There you have it , the Right wing mentality in a NUTshell.
Hikingartist and dmz. Right wing mentality? If you were a islama faciast wanting to sneek in here to cause a terrorist attack, what would be the eseaist way? Mexico. They are sucking off our taxes, taking jobs, taking our health care, laughing at our laws and heritage.
WHAT ABOUT ALL THOSE MEN AND WOMAN WHO HAVE DIED FOR OUR SAFETY AN FREEDOMS? HOW WOULD THEY FEEL SEEING THIS ILLEGAL PROBLEM? WHAT WOULD THEY TINK OF YOUR PANSY LIBERAL ATTITUDE? DO YOU NOT CARE? DO YOU WANT TO PAY FOR THIS SCUM YOURSELF? IF ILLEGAL MEXICANS ARE SUCH GOOD PEOPLE, WHY DON'T YOU GO TO MEXICO YOU LIBERAL FREAKS!
WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO SOLVE THIS PROMBLEM MR LEFT WING?
OPEN THE BOARDERS?
LET THEM ALL IN?
PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE DESTROYING THIS COUNTRY!
LIBERALISM IS A MENTAL DISEASE!
TANCREDO, LAMM OR MIKE SAVAGE FOR PRESIDENT ANY DAY!
WHAT HAVE YOU TO SAY ABOUT THAT YOU BLEEDING HEART LIBERAL?
No need to close the border if you are thinking about stopping terrorists by doing so.
9/11 was an inside job. If there really were an impending threat to the USA, the border would have been closed before 2002.
If you go to 'google translation', Al Qada in Arabic simply means 'the base'. One day the top brass were thinking of what to call the imaginary threat while looking at a map of a training base in Afghanistan. They decided that something easy to remember and pronounce would be best, thus the Arabic word for base, 'Al Qada'.
It was a cruise missle that hit the Pentagon, and the 3 WTC buildings were imploded.
We are all the victims of the largest lie ever.
It doesn't matter what we say or do, the King and his Court have control now and nothing we do will stop it.
Posted by Jay on March 31, 2007 02:07 PMYeah SURE 9/11 was an inside job! What pure unadulterated hogwash.
Bin Laden admitted to 9/11...took total credit and even had jewelry made of the twin towers to give out to his Al Qaeda buddys as rewards for helping pull 9/11 off.
Who do you think started this conspiracy bullcrap?? Duh!!... the Bush haters AKA far left wing nuts who are selling out this country to anybody who will listen. The far left are so stupid and dull their brains only function when Sean(gulp) Penn, Rosie (Rhodes Scholar ) Odonnell,Bwahahaha, Jihad Jane Fonda, open their uninformed mouths to spew far left garbage.
I mean, they are play actors for God sakes!
There are alot of far left nutsoids out there in the colleges and in the media. They are doing great harm to this country. I am not in love with Bush either he has done great harm to us all with his horrendous policys, however I totally disagree with the 911 conspiracy theory.
Just as I would not have wanted to live in East Berlin when the Berlin wall was up, I do not want to live in an America where a massive wall is put up.
What keeps Mexicans out can also keep us Americans in, you silly fools who support this proposition!

Can we remind Neocons of this the next time they tell us it's "irrevelant" we haven't caught Bin Laden?
Posted by mytwosense on March 31, 2007 04:12 PMreminds me a lot of the arguments for the Maginot Line.
Too bad they can just go around the line, eh?
bri, good point, however recognition of that would shake confidence in the firm belief that "we" only do things for the purest of motives and "they" do things because they are evil and wicked.
Irwin, you stated it very well, and mytwosense if you don't want to live here if a wall is erected, MOVE!!!!!!

I've got a heads up for you, Ronnie boy. There ain't gonna be no fence. I guess it's you who'll have to move.
Posted by on March 31, 2007 07:11 PMwhy would politicians want to eliminate the cheap source of construction labor that builds their 12000 sq. ft. mansions? Its just a political talking point in Washington.

[editor: dmz should mind his manners]
Simply putting more resources, whether they be human, technological or both, into enforcing a closed border is not only inhumane, its illogical. The more enforcement we have, the more the price of crossing the border increases. This means that we see more migrant deaths in the desert, as Bri effectively illustrated. It also means that organized crime will have more capacity to flourish as a booming black market evolves. This goes for all smuggling networks to those who intend to do civilian harm.
To see how amped up border enforcement practically plays out, see yesterday's article in the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/31/us/31smuggle.html?_r=2&oref=slogin∨.
In particularly, note the following paragraph:
"The authorities said the case revealed another facet of the vast smuggling business that has flourished in Arizona and other border states, as stepped-up border enforcement has made illegal crossing more difficult and pushed up smugglers’ fees."
We need a comprehensive immigration reform with higher visa caps, worker protections to insure all U.S. workers are protected and making a living wage, and policies that address the root causes of migration. A sounder trade agreement with poor nations will be much more effective, sane and humane than placing five national guard to each mile of border.
Posted by chandra on April 1, 2007 06:20 PMI beg your pardon, LIBERALS SUCK is such a refined lady I'm sorry I stepped over the line and offended her sensibilities, but ya gotta fight stupidity with education....but apparently there are a lot of cons who will never learn to read, and continue to get their "facts" from faux news.
Posted by dmz on April 2, 2007 10:04 AMC'mon dmz, I hope you are smart enough to see the difference between a Berlin wall intended to "Keep people IN - keep them from fleeing" and a wall intended to keep them from ENTERING illegally.
Jay - your assertion about 9/11 being an inside job is ridiculous. How hard would it be to keep that kind of conspiracy quiet? The more people involved, the more likely it will be exposed. Think about it, if you can......
Posted by Skeezix on April 2, 2007 01:13 PMHi, skeezix....actually, I was the one who made the Berlin wall reference. And I can see the difference. What I worry about is that one day our government won't!
