War funding bill promotes cynicism
Friday, March 30 at 12:01 AM

Jordan Von Bokern of Louisville writes:

The Democrats’ pledge of fiscal responsibility during the 2006 midterm election was a welcome change from their typical “tax-and-spend” mentality, but the war funding bill just reinforces our cynicism because, apparently, it’s still politics as usual.

Yes, it's politics to pass a bill giving high levels of funding to the military and including a withdrawal date, but it's not politics to veto that bill. It's only politics if the Democrats do it, right? I guess there's just not a way to question anything this administration does without it being "politics as usual." Oh well, let's just let the Current Occupant do whatever he wants. After all, 30% of the population supports him, so he must be doing a great job!

I concur with the common sense (bias and prejudice) of the comment while deploring the common sense (bias and prejudice) of the letter writer. r22037yahoo

Jordan's letter doesn't tell me enough to know where he stands. Does he mean we should not fund the war? Or is he complaining about the pork in the bill, which I consider a valid criticism of it. I don't like the idea of a congressperson voting for a bill because of the pork in it rather than because of the principle in it.

I took it to be a complaint about the pork bribes traded so they could muster the votes. Wasn't Nancy suppose to drain the swamp rather than go for a swim?

Which Party was in control when we ran the highest deficits and federal budget in history?

The spend and pass it on to others Republicans.
