Iraq war & Democrats
If the Democrats succeed in there defeatist strategy and it leads to the Muslim extremist takeover of Iraq, the resources there will eventually find there way here and will be manifest in American deaths and destruction. They evidently have forgotten the tragic images of NYC, what happened on 911 and how potent and real the threat of radical Islam is.
President Bush, has changed the command and strategy in Iraq, and with this should be given the time and resources to rectify the situation there. If he and our troops aren’t we will not only be looking at another debacle similar in nature to the one caused by our untimely withdrawal from Viet Nam, but as the Vietnamese confined their later butchery to Southeast Asia, the U.S.
This is not the time or place for the Colorado Democrat Representative and (or) the rest of them to be playing political games at the expense of our national security. Unfortunately it appears the could care less.

I disagree with your predictions and conclusions. The Democrats and Republicans in Congress who voted for conditional funding for Iraq likely share your general concern about national security, but understand we are worse off for every day our military remains pinned down in Iraq.
The current administration, enabled by the previously GOP-controlled Congress, has painted our country's national security into a corner by their misguided execution of the Iraq war. It will be a mess, no matter what we do from here. But more importantly, our military is stretched to the breaking point and is strategically pinned down in an open-ended civil war.
As a result America is spending less than it should on homeland security to prevent terrorist attacks and is ill-prepared for any conventional military threats. America's economic and military rivals, and sadly our friends, are -already- emboldened by our country's rank incompetence in Iraq and the apparent passivity on the part of our citizens to weild any democratic control over the direction of our country. In ways, big and small, in regions around the world, smaller, weaker players are stepping up to oppose U.S. interests and policies, knowing we are distracted and more vulnerable than anyone once thought (flashback to Soviets in Afganistan).
For these reasons, any action that Congress can take to begin to rein in this bungling administration, is both necessary for preserving our ability to protect our interests -and- demonstrate the value and effectiveness of a modern democracy.
The boogie-men conjured in your post are no match for the very real erosion of American power and influence that is taking place daily.

Posted by Yawwnnnn on April 29, 2007 01:52 PMK. Harwick ...just hope we are not attacked by anyone while the Democrats are in power. I guess we won't have to worry about the extremist Muslim groups getting to us. The Democrats are bouncing around on a magic carpet with them as it is.
The far left Democrats want to turn America into a socialist country..you know free medical care... gunfree..hand out everything free from cradle to grave. The one thing we will lose with all of this crappola going on is the right to be free! Oh they care alright! They will go to any lengths to further their agenda.
Hey Yawwnnn, just go on to sleep. When you wake up from your coma, you'll just be one more of their duped sheep
