A declaration of war
Monday, May 21 at 12:01 AM

The U.S. Senate’s immigration bill is a declaration of war on America and all American workers by the political and financial elites and by the race-identity invaders. It would put an end to America as we know it. I urge all American soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq to desert the field and return home to fight the real enemies of America.

"I urge all American soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq to desert the field and return home to fight the real enemies of America" - Our Congress!

They declared war decades ago and have won many battles. They already depress wages by outsourcing American jobs to the cheaper labor pools in third world countries. Now they want third world wages in America as well.

Posted by DS on May 21, 2007 05:31 AM

Hey wait congress gets an automatic pay raise every year unless someone brings up a bill to stop it for that year. Oops they never would do that.
tis a sad day

Posted by on May 21, 2007 06:16 AM

We can win this one, if we stand together as US Citizens and call, fax, and email these Congressperson and Senators and tell them that this will not fly with us. We have already been lied to by Kennedy and others back in 1986, tell them we will not take in the butt again. You are right, this will be an act of war, a war between the hardworking Americans who wish to protect their way of life and the illegal aliens that are going to flood our country with all the 3rd world problems they can. You are right, we are in a fight for our lives. Pro-illegal activists do not realize that their lives won't be affected immediately only the hardworking middle class families will be dragged down to proverty level. I for one don't care if I am called a RACIST, I will not allow these people to drag me down to a 3rd world country and all its problems without a major fight.

Posted by Pam on May 21, 2007 06:52 AM

Pam,

I couild not agree more. Keep up the fight.

Posted by truthy on May 21, 2007 06:56 AM

Well said. Now to find actions that will do the job. Seems that someone in Washington said that the phones, faxes and other communications are all at top levels since this was announced. Since the illegals are so greedy that they don't like even the minimal requirements in this plan there is time to make a difference but only if we DO something. Keep it legal, non-violent and loud. And don't give up just because the media will try to ignore you.

Posted by momma y on May 21, 2007 07:24 AM

I'm in agreement with all of the above but am completely discouraged. I wrote my congressional representative Udall and recieved a prewritten "touchy feely" resposnse about how this is a humanitarian issue, not an illegal issue. They do not listen to the voters anymore - what are we to do? How do all of us (and there are a lot) get our message across to these representatives and Senators immediately so they don't pass this junk? Voters in this country are appathetic and will forget all about this next year so threatening votes is out. We need to do something now before it is too late to turn back. Suggestions anyone?

You realize that's what you're DOING, right?

If I wasn't so sure you're a bunch of gutless whiners and this is just the crazy man's version of "take my ball and go home," I'd call the feds on you.

I'm actually surprised RMN published this letter calling for federal troops to abandon a war and come home to fight the real enemy. This was a very gutsy letter to write.

MADMEN. You people frighten me.

The U.S. is a country founded on the principle that all people have a right to flee from oppression and pursue happiness under the protection of a government that respects certain freedoms of individual expression, conduct, and privacy as the inalienable rights of all people, not just those born on American soil.

How many of you are working landscaping jobs or drive-thru windows or phone support or any other low-end service position? One of the tenets of capitalism is that competition is desirable. If you can't hack it and lost your job because someone from Mexico will gladly pick up other people's trash for a lower wage than you, GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND MAKE YOURSELF A VIABLE COMPETITOR. Man up and drop this xenophobic, red-necked bigotry.

There's a difference between guts and gall.

Posted by Jonathan Hamilton on May 21, 2007 10:37 AM

Well for one, remember Green Beret, it was the militias that won the freedom for this country in the first place and a soldier is taught that, especially spec ops. and as for Gitmo and all, nice when a person doesnt even have the courage to put a name or pseudoname in the letter. And finally, RMN can print these letters for at l;east for a little while the 1st amendment still stands, at least until people feel that you hurt their feelings then will you loose your right, ie talking against illegals and thos in office who support them. Ken Salazars people will throw you out and call the police if you attempt to talk about that situation. I know I had it happen to me and a few others.

The Bible tells me that god created a daughter for Adam and he took her for his wife and in a geologic blink a Jew from the "loins of David" transmogrified into a Christian god destined for assisted suicide with the help of Romans and Jews came on the scene.

The media tells me that America seeks assisted suicide with the help of Republicrats, America's two-party system.

I read/hear that mostly Mexican criminals in their own country are fording the river and jumping the fence and 27,000, perhaps 10%, of them are in federal prison.

A rewind to the Reagan era: Isn't he the guy who started this amnesty business assuring America the problem of illegal immigration had been solved?

Don't argue: Eve came from Adam's rib and that is his own flesh and blood whom he married; however, tell me America is not seeking assisted suicide. Me, your friendly deicide.

We have laws Mr. Hamilton. Are you suggesting that immigrants should not obey our immigration laws? Are you actually calling on Mexicans to flood through our borders and disobey our laws? That sounds treasonous to me.

Posted by John II on May 21, 2007 10:47 AM

The law should never be an obstacle to freedom. If that sounds treasonous to you, maybe you should write a letter to the President suggesting that he bring our soldiers in Iraq back home to take me out.

Posted by Jonathan Hamilton on May 21, 2007 10:50 AM
"The law should never be an obstacle to freedom.

Can you expand on that comment? Are you suggesting that immigration laws should be abolished?

Posted by John II on May 21, 2007 10:59 AM

You must have poor reading comprehension, because I don't think "the law should never be an obstacle to freedom" means the same thing as "immigration laws should be abolished."

What you can infer from my statement, though, is that immigration law should allow us to effectively document, naturalize, and tax immigrants as fairly as any other citizen, and it should never prevent, say, a Venezuelan national from escaping a country ruled by a creep like Chavez.

If you take issue with that philosophy, then I have to wonder whether your militias would abide by stricter gun control laws....

Posted by Jonathan Hamilton on May 21, 2007 11:04 AM

Are you claiming that we should accept millions of Mexicans as a form of providing asylum? We're not talking about a Venezuelan national escaping his country; we're talking about millions of Mexicans streaming into our country and disregarding our documenting, naturalization, and tax laws.

Posted by John II on May 21, 2007 11:10 AM

"The U.S. Senate’s immigration bill is a declaration of war on America and all American workers by the political and financial elites and by the race-identity invaders"

Mr. McGarry can poop his pants if he likes (or maybe he just wants you to poop your pants), but I'm not afraid of ghosts. Isn't that a lesson we all learned as children?

Again, the anti-Mexican brigade wants Congress to do nothing. Oh, they'll shout bromides about enforcing da law, but when it comes down to actually doing something that people will agree on, they are opposed. Hmm. I wonder why?

[not any of them]
Ok..... J. Hamilton which one are you?
Anderson? Truth? Charles B? Old Grouch? HMMM.....could be one of the other bleeding hearts in their group.

BTW whats so alarming about civil strife to you J. Hamilton don't you love this country anymore??
Wouldn't you stand up for this country if it was being invaded by foreigners bent on our destruction??

Mexico is tenth on the list of richest countries in the world! And getting richer daily from the Mexican puppets they encourage to enter our country unlawfully.
What's up with this "oppression" you talk about?? If you are scared listen to the governors from the "sanctuary" states they are telling the government "up yours" when it comes to the laws being obeyed concerning illegals!! Now, THAT'S scary.

Posted by A Citizen on May 21, 2007 11:20 AM

But John, immigration laws must be universally applicable to all immigrants. We can legislate against Mexicans or any other nationality specifically--that'd be discrimination.

You don't want to discriminate, do you, John? Is immigration really the issue here, or is it just the immigration of those darned wetbacks?

Again, with your poor reading comprehension in mind, please take a moment to re-read this statement:

"Immigration law should allow us to effectively document, naturalize, and tax immigrants as fairly as any other citizen."

Where in that statement do you see "immigration law should provide asylum to millions of Mexican citizens"?

Posted by Jonathan Hamilton on May 21, 2007 11:20 AM

Because, Mr. Hamilton, you seem to be suggesting that the millions of illegal Mexican immigrants are of the same status as a persecuted Venezuelan seeking political asylum in our country.

My reading comprehension is superb. But, I'm no mind-reader. State your position cogently so I don't have to guess as to what you're saying.

Posted by John II on May 21, 2007 11:26 AM

My position, which I think I've stated quite clearly, is that "the Senate's immigration bill is a declaration of war on America" is an alarming conceit.

I elaborated that immigration is actually desirable because it gives us more taxpayers and a more competitive work force, and with that in mind, the law should encourage legal immigration, not discourage illegal immigration. That's a losing battle.

What of that is so "bleeding heart," guys? How does an interest in collecting more tax revenue and creating a more competitive American work force make me an America-hater? SERIOUSLY NEED ANSWERS PLZ :( :( :(

Posted by Jonathan Hamilton on May 21, 2007 11:31 AM

The law should never be an obstacle to freedom. If that sounds treasonous to you, maybe you should write a letter to the President suggesting that he bring our soldiers in Iraq back home to take me out.

uh hamilton, just in case you did not know mexico is a free country, you unpatriotic piece of crap ,

Posted by hoimaha on May 21, 2007 11:48 AM

So Jonathon I assume you have done an ROI on this issue. I would love to see the numbers To clarify comparing the proposed tax revenue based upon costs to public.

How are the current immigration issue unfair to the Mexican National compared to other nationalities? 12+million illegals(greatest % from Mexico) Do we allow that % of Indians, Chinese, Korean, Darfur, etc? How many do we allow in? All that want in? Again give me an ROI on this.

To make an ROI work on this, would we not want highly skilled, technical immigrants, rather than low payed immigrants?

Posted by bwr on May 21, 2007 11:54 AM

Did I say Mexico wasn't a free country? Nope. Just that people should have the freedom to move to our country without unjust discrimination. Does that make me unpatriotic? Because there's a nice old lady from France in New York who taught me that America welcomes the tired, the poor, the huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of all kinds of teeming shores, etc. etc. etc.

Posted by Jonathan Hamilton on May 21, 2007 11:56 AM

I don't recall saying that immigration law unfairly discriminates, just that it shouldn't.

I don't know about any ROI, because you can't put a price tag on freedom!!1 Why shouldn't we allow anyone who can pass our tests to settle here?

As for highly skilled workers, the idea is that competition for unskilled jobs puts pressure on the individual to better himself. Doesn't that sound neat? It's totally boostrapping! It's so FDR!

Posted by Jonathan Hamilton on May 21, 2007 12:00 PM

Even during the time you are representing had a limitation on the # of immigrants we allowed.

Please give me a # that is acceptable. Every freedom seeking person throughout the world?

Jonathan please go look up the Numbers video. Even if you only believe the argument 20% look at the numbers and that is only listing LEGAL immigrants.

Posted by bwr on May 21, 2007 12:01 PM

Jonathan your statement

"What of that is so "bleeding heart," guys? How does an interest in collecting more tax revenue and creating a more competitive American work force make me an America-hater? SERIOUSLY NEED ANSWERS PLZ :( :( :("

Your followup

"I don't know about any ROI, because you can't put a price tag on freedom!!1 Why shouldn't we allow anyone who can pass our tests to settle here?"

Ok from this statement I assume that it would be a negative ROI so why should the statement of more tax revenue make any sense other than to try and offset huge losses.

Discrimination issue. You stated

"But John, immigration laws must be universally applicable to all immigrants. We can legislate against Mexicans or any other nationality specifically--that'd be discrimination.

You don't want to discriminate, do you, John? Is immigration really the issue here, or is it just the immigration of those darned wetbacks?"
Mexican nationals are by far the highest violators of the current Immigration laws. From my point of view you are saying that all people against the current and proposed immigration laws to alllow for more strict immigration laws are discriminitory.

I may not get your full points and there is something in the middle you are proposing, but I dont think I or JohnII are the only ones missing your points

#1
Exactly what is it about controlling our borders
and enforcing immigration laws do you find
discriminatory? (11:56 post)
#2
Who exactly do you think
is being discriminated against?

Then you go on to say in your 12:00 post
that immigration law "shouldn't unfairly
discriminate".

So, bear with me, I'm blond.
Do you believe U.S. laws discriminate
against certain people, or don't you?

And if so, who are they?

Could you please give us an example of "fair discrimination?

Posted by RickyLee on May 21, 2007 12:37 PM

I believe that a 10 year moratorium on ALL immigration would benefit this nation more than any other so called solution being bandied about by the elected officials. But, can anyone tell me where the $5,000 for the so-called Z-visa would go? Can anyone tell me why 20-40 million illegals who have told us to "Stick our laws up our asses" should be given amnesty or preferential treatment over all those who have tried diligently to go through the accepted legal procedures to try to gain citizenship to our country? Can anyone tell me why teenagers, besides the plain lazy ones, can't get a job at fast food anymore? Oh, wait, maybe they need to accept the job at $2 per hour cash to be considered. One fact is that the world cannot be lifted up to the standard of living we have enjoyed in the USA in the past 50 years. So, what the globalists want to do, is drop our standard of living to that of any 3rd world nation. It could be Mexico, Indonesia, the Phillipeans, it doesn't really matter. Just be aware that the plan includes the vast majority of Americans dropping their standard of living to those of poverty stricken 3rd world nations. Are you willing to dive right into that? If so, go along with this amnesty, if not, speak up in the streets and make sure nobody shuts you up.

Posted by Jay on May 21, 2007 12:38 PM

Hate to rain on the rebellious parade, but grow up, and I mean that it a jaded, political sort of way.

Both parties serve the same master: what used to be 'corporate America' but now is best described as 'corporate International.' We are in an economic realignment that will bring down the wages of the current G8 countries and bring up the wages of the current emerging, or 2nd world, markets. Americans collectively, have elected leaders from both parties (Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton (signer of NAFTA), Bush Jr), who have signed-off on this trend, and so have only ourselves to blame.

The current illegal immigration issue facing America is just an unforeseen blip due to Mexico's mishandled economy, post-NAFTA. Had things gone as planned, sufficient numbers of America's manufacturing jobs would have moved south (instead of to Asia) to pull their boats up and lower ours so as to make it more attractive to stay locally rather than risk heading to Del Norte. That didn't work as planned, but will in the long run, so the current bill, or variations on it, is only meant to buy Mexico some time to more properly take America's higher-wage jobs. The effect will be the same, sadly...American employees will get paid relatively less, emerging market employees will get paid relatively more, until the current global income inequality within the 'middle class' flattens. American middle class will of course be the loser and emerging markets 'middle class' will experience what America did in the 1950s, at least briefly, until the same manufacturing jobs pull up their temporary stakes and head again to even cheaper labor pools.

The fact that so much passion is spent fighting on this blog over low-wage service jobs demonstrates how Americans' expectations have already adjusted downward for this less prosperous future.

One more ominous footnote, especially for all you calling for more violent measures, such as forming 'militias'...remember that bill we passed to 'protect us from terrorists?' The powers that so many self-described patriots granted our government to 'protect' us will easily thwart the smallest effort to reverse this trend. Remember, American democracy serves at the pleasure of capitalism, not the other way around.

It shows that conveying perspectives, views and opinions can be difficult at times. Meanings get lost in the forming of points on here.

Posted by bwr on May 21, 2007 01:46 PM

Well Anderson, you better get used to it, because if the amnesty goes through, all we will eventually have is the financial abilities of 'pikers' for our pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness. Our wages will be described as 'less than a piker', our savings and checking accounts will be contemptibly small, and our belongings will be cheap pieces of dung. Is that what you want for your children and grandchildren? Whatever... lol

One thing that almost never gets brought up in these blogs is why Mexicans and other Central Americans don't try to change their own governments, instead of invading the United States.

Mexico has some of the greatest natural resources on the North American continent, but also one of the most corrupt governments. If these people were truly interested in helping themselves, they would try to fix their own country instead overloading ours. I'm just getting a little tired of seeing and hearing Mexican patriotism in the United States: if you love Mexico so much do something to help your beloved country.

Oh, and before we get the pro-immigration crowd screaming that most illegal immigrants are too poor to effect change, most revolutions throughout history have been the poor rising up against their oppressors.

More and More Americans are getting upset and angry about illegal aliens, they are tired of reading of them coming here using forged documents or stolen identities to obtain housing, health care, education, welfare, food stamps, and Social Security. These services are being paid by hardworking American Citizens and they are getting resentful. Americans are getting tired of illegal aliens coming here and driving wages down the toilet so that no American can support his or her family, and just to clarify, I realize that the cheap labor is caused by greedy Corporations wanting to make that extra 1 million dollar bonus (they might starve on 325,000.00 per year salary and bonuses)but how did they come up with the idea of using cheap labor....Illegal aliens sneaking into the country and basically waving up a flag going use us, we will work for half of what hardworking Americans will cost you. Americans are getting tired of seeing illegal aliens wave thier countries flag (especially those who wave their countries flag above Americas or our flag up side down under theirs) and storm the streets demanding Americans to give them rights that past and future generations of men and women fighting in wars both foreign and domestic have kept safe for every American to enjoy and have pride in. So when you read posts stating that Congress is enacting war on this country, take heed, because if the amensty is past, I believe the reprecautions will be devasting.

All you anti-immigrant xenophobes are a bunch of morons. You cry about spending tax dollars to provide health care and education but continue to vote for the republicans who waste billions of dollars in Iraq everyday. Sorry to dissapoint you, but no, the war in Iraq is not making you safer. You also whine about how all these people don't just get in line to come in legally. Learn the facts, unless you marry a US citizen or are some sort of CEO or scientist, it's IMPOSSIBLE. There is no line you morons.

Does John II want people to join his called for militia so he can become the new David Koresh?

"Last time the natives were this restless blaming the government for their perceived woes one of them blew up the Okla Federal Bldg."
Last time those "perceived woes" were proven to be actual woes, the government killed 79 people including 21 children.

This is disgusting. Not only does this imply a justification for what McVeigh did (and by extension any terrorist does) but it reveals dangerous ignorance. Even for those who were rightly concerned about the unjustified tactics of the Feds in Waco, we have given this very same government so much more power to monitor and suppress the citizenry that it has ever had, while deriding any opposition as unpatriotic. God, if these kooks are the so called 'conservatives' left in this country, we are sunk.
