A good teacher
He makes sure the students understand the subject and if they have problems he will spend extra time they need until they get it.
He is a great mentor. Yes, as seniors, we get out of hand. He takes charge of the classroom and gets everyone on the same track.
Many people dread going to school, but he makes it enjoyable. He is a “peoples person”.
He can talk to all levels of students. Yes, we have many “clicks” in high school. There are not many teachers that can gain the trust and respect from all of them.
As an 18 year old, I now have a voice. Cherry Creek School District always had a reputation for having an excellent school system but today they lost one of their best! I urge other students to let there voices be heard. If you think something is wrong, let your voices be heard too. Our student body has already started a petition; we have over 300 signatures already. I hope the Cherry Creek School District will listen to the majority.

Your teacher should have taught you to include this guy's name in your letter about him. Also, why was he fired? This is the kind of information you need to tell people if you expect them to care.
I'm itching to lay into CC Schools. Just give me a reason.

Posted by jk on May 25, 2007 07:18 AMIf this is a representative sample of the writing skills of an average 18 year old in the Cherry Creek school system - one of the state's richest and best - then every bad assumption I have ever had about public schools has been confirmed. Pitiful.
Brian, if you want to make yourself feel good about your writing skills, I suggest you look at some of the garbage that Michael tries to pass off as the English language.
It is true that it would have been better if you had given us the name of the teacher. And I certainly wouldn't want to judge the matter without hearing the other side. Nonetheless, your letter is well written. It doesn't wander around as so many of the posts on the forum do. It doesn't engage in petty recriminations or mudslinging as so many of the posters such as Michael do. You make your point nicely, civilly, and clearly.I enjoyed reading it very much. I hope you will favor the forum with more of your writing talent.
Of course, bear in mind that this forum is largely populated with people like Michael whose "talent", if you want to call it that, is to run people down. For them, the only good writing is that which says things with which they agree. It's a common failing of the petty-minded.
